"I had no idea who Ed Sheeran is."

Choreographer and filmmaker Farah Khan reminisced about her meeting with renowned English singer Ed Sheeran.

When Ed came to India for a tour, Farah hosted a Bollywood party for him.

However, the acclaimed director had no idea who he was.

She revealed: “My cousin who works as a lawyer in a music company told me that Ed wants to come to India and wants to experience a Bollywood party.

“I swear on my children, I had no idea who Ed Sheeran is.

“I thought he would be my cousin’s friend, but my cousin and aunt asked me to host a party for him.”

Farah then asked Abhishek Bachchan: “Who is Ed Sheeran?”

Abhishek replied: “He’s just the number one singer in the world.”

Farah added: “We started as a small party, but I didn’t realise that Ed is so famous, as everyone started calling me that they wanted to attend the party.

“So it turned out to be a big bash.”

At the party, Farah Khan was astounded as only Ed Sheeran’s music reverberated across the room. This led her to yell at the DJ.

Farah recalled: “At the party, I was yelling at the DJ, ‘Why are you playing funeral music’?

“He said, ‘Ma’am this is Ed Sheeran’s music’.”

Farah then spoke about Ed’s generosity towards her in giving her tickets to his concert.

She explained: “He left at 2 am as he had a concert the next day.

“He said, ‘I can stay here till morning but I have to perform tomorrow’.”

“The next day, he sent me 20 front-row VIP passes for his show. But I didn’t go.”

However, according to Farah, Ed had a great experience at the party.

She emphasised: “Ed had a wonderful time.”

The party occurred in 2017.

Farah posted a picture of her at the party, in which she planted a kiss on a gleeful Ed Sheeran’s cheek.

The English singer is known for hits such as ‘The A-Team’ (2011), ‘Drunk’ (2012) and ‘Castle on the Hill‘ (2017).

During his career, he has won four Grammy awards.

Ed Sheeran also announced his third concert in India in 2024.

On March 16, 2024, he will perform at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse as part of his + – = ÷ x Mathematics Tour.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Farah was last seen in a cameo in Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan (2023).

Farah Khan has also helmed hits such as Main Hoon Na (2004), Om Shanti Om (2007) and Tees Maar Khan (2010).
