A violent incident occurred in the Pakistani province of Punjab where eight people were shot dead following a row between children.

A police case has been registered after eight people were killed on Saturday, May 9, 2020. The incident happened in the Kharianwala area of Sheikhupura, Pakistan.

It was reported that a dispute had erupted between two groups of people following a quarrel between children.

Two days after the altercation between the children, members of one family opened fire at eight people from the other family while they were harvesting wheat in a field.

There were eight instant fatalities while three other people sustained injuries.

It was heard that both families fought on the day of the argument. Several people suffered minor injuries after being attacked with sharp weapons.

Police heard about the shooting and a large number of officers turned up at the scene. They recovered the bodies and sent the injured to the hospital.

They conducted a search of the area and launched an investigation once they gathered evidence.

Police identified the victims as Ali Shan, Yasin Bibi, Khadim, Bashiran Bibi, Waheed, Tufail, Akbar and Ali.

The wounded were identified as Qurban, Allah Ditta and Ramzan. They were sent to DHQ Hospital in Sheikhupura.

Police explained that the two groups had an ongoing feud with each other.

The severity of their feud increased when there was an argument between the children. Police do not yet know what the row was about.

Following the shooting, family members heard about what happened and took action by burning the houses of the attackers, worsening the situation.

The family of the victims stated that the police did not take action on time.

Police have registered a case against the perpetrators and officers said that arrests will be made soon.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also took notice of the incident. He ordered the regional police officer to arrest the offenders and submit a report on the matter.

He stated that justice will be provided to the victims.

Chief Minister Buzdar said: “Those who took the law into their own hands will be taken to task. The family of the deceased will be given justice at all costs.”

There have been numerous cases involving families embroiled in feuds across the world, not just Pakistan. A lot of them tend to be over fairly small matters.

In many cases, the feud culminates in injuries, however, in some cases like this one, people have unfortunately lost their lives.
