On Instagram, the actress confirmed that she was now engaged to her partner Max.

Gurlaine is known for portraying Ashneet ‘Ash’ Panesar in the BBC soap EastEnders.

She played Ash from 2019 to 2023. Her character was introduced as the bisexual girlfriend of Iqra Ahmed (Priya Davdra).

As time progressed, Ash was later revealed to be the sister of the newly introduced Panesar brothers.

They included Kheerat (Jaz Singh Deol), Jags (Amar Adatia), and Vinny (Shiv Jalota).

Ash also had a fraught relationship with her mother Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal), owing to her sexuality.

In March 2023, Gurlaine Kaur Garcha departed EastEnders to focus on other roles.

As news of her engagement emerged, several of her EastEnders co-stars rushed to congratulate her.

Balvinder gushed: “Oh my days! Congratulations, baby.”

Shiv added: “Ah, congrats!”

Louisa Lytton, who played Ruby Allen in the show, exclaimed: “Congratulations!”

A fourth user declared: “Aw, amazing news! Huge congratulations to you both! What a beautiful ring.”

She began her acting career when she was 15 years old and appeared in the short film Counter Punch (2011).

When her final episode of EastEnders aired, Gurlaine said: “I’ve had the best time on this show.

“What’s funny is this actually came to me at a time when I had given up on the dream of being an actor.”

“So it’s an extra special job to me. I’ve learned so much and I have worked with some of the most amazing people.

“That’s not just the people I read opposite with. It’s the crew, lighting, sound, costumes, and makeup.

“It’s directors, writers, and just everybody. I think what I’ll miss the most is the people. It’s like a pretend mum, going from home to home.

“I think what I’ve gained most is taking a family here and leaving with an additional one.

“Thank you so much for making it so special for me.”

In January 2023, Gurlaine was announced as an ambassador for the Heal Los Angeles Foundation – a charity in honour of Michael Jackson.
