Friends of Diljit Dosanjh have claimed that the singer-actor is married to an Indian-American woman and they have a son together.
Little is known about Diljit’s personal life and he only recently opened up about his strained relationship with his parents.
He explained that he was sent to live with his uncle without being consulted first.
It is not known if Diljit has a wife but a few unnamed friends have claimed that he is married.
In a profile piece by Indian Express, friends shed light on Diljit’s personal life.
Part of the article stated: “An intensely private person, little is known about his family but friends say his wife is an American-Indian and they have a son, and his parents live in Ludhiana.”
The article also claimed that his wife and son live in the United States.
Diljit Dosanjh is yet to address the claims mentioned in the article but rumours surrounding his personal life have attracted attention in recent weeks.
An old interview of Kiara Advani promoting their film Good Newwz resurfaced where she hinted that Diljit is a father.
She said: “Very educational for me since I am the only one who is here not having a child.”
Internet sleuths then found a photo of Diljit purportedly getting married to Punjabi singer Nisha Bano, further fuelling rumours.
In the picture, Diljit was dressed in a denim shirt.
But Nisha’s red lehenga and jewellery led to the belief that the picture was from their wedding ceremony.
Some reports also suggested that the pair have a child together.
While Diljit did not address the rumours, Nisha Bano broke her silence on the matter.
Dispelling the claims, Nisha clarified that she is married to singer Sameer Mahi adding that while her marital status is well-known in Punjab, it seems to have been overlooked in Bollywood circles.
She wrote: “Somebody should ask me as well, they have made me somebody’s wife, this news is getting viral and people are tagging me in videos and photos.
“The Punjabis know that I am Sameer Mahi’s wife but who will make Bollywood understand this?”
The claims about Diljit Dosanjh being married to an Indian-American woman come just days before the release of Chamkila.
