"I always knew being in front of the camera is something I would enjoy doing"
In her first American talk show appearance, the very welcoming and very funny Ellen DeGeneres congratulates Deepika Padukone on her new movie role as Serena Unger in xXx: Return of Xander Cage, co-starring Vin Diesel.
In her interview on The Ellen Show, Deepika talks about first auditioning for another Vin Diesel film, Fast and Furious 7, a few years ago.
She says: “I think people remember me from that audition. Everyone talks about that chemistry and people remember me from that.”
Explaining to Ellen how she managed to get the role in the action flick, Deepika explains she got a call from Paramount about xXx: Return of Xander Cage. She then flew to meet the director.
Deepika reveals that when Vin Diesel found out she was in Toronto, he told her to visit him in Los Angles.
She continues to describe her confusion when doing a photo shoot with Vin Diesel to promote the film, despite not yet being told she got the part: “I still don’t know if I got the part,” she laughs.
After the photo shoot was published, Deepika laughs as tells Ellen she didn’t know what to tell people when they congratulated her on getting the movie role.
Deepika also addressed the romance rumours between her and Vin Diesel. She awkwardly smiles at Ellen when she asks her if the rumours are true.
Deepika responds: “There’s no smoke without fire…but it’s all in my head.”
She adds:
“In my head, we’re together and we have this amazing chemistry. We live together and have these amazing babies, but it’s all in my head.”
She then tells Ellen to ask Vin Diesel whether a romance will ever blossom between the two.
There is definitely a lot of fiery chemistry between Deepika and Vin, but we wonder what her alleged boyfriend Ranveer Singh thinks!
Ellen also mentions Deepika’s father profession as a badminton player and whether he hoped she would follow in her footsteps.
However, Deepika says that her father always told her “follow my heart.” When telling her parents about her acting aspirations they were “very very supportive.”
When she turned sixteen, Deepika says: “I always knew being in front of the camera is something I would enjoy doing a lot more.”
