Two British Pakistani men attempted to smuggle heroin on a flight from Islamabad. The Class A drugs had been concealed in hairspray bottles.

They arrested 28 suspects and seized over 500 kilograms of narcotics.

Two British Pakistani men and their uncle were arrested at Islamabad airport after heroin was found in their luggage.

Saqib Khan, his brother Rajab Khan and their uncle Wajid Khan were stopped by the Airport Security Force (ASF).

The men were set to board a Pakistan International Airlines flight to Birmingham. The ASF searched their luggage and found over 800g of heroin.

It had been concealed in four hairspray and perfume bottles.

The two British Pakistani men and their uncle, of Dadyal, near Mirpur, were later arrested. A case was registered against the suspects while further investigations were underway.

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) subsequently carried out a number of operations in a bid to crack down on drug smuggling.

They arrested 28 suspects and seized over 500 kilograms of narcotics. An ANF spokesperson added that nine vehicles that were being used to transport the drugs had also been seized.

Twenty-three raids took place in various parts of Pakistan.

The drugs comprised of 105kg hashish, 375kg opium, 15kg heroin, 4.6kg methamphetamine and 5.2kg amphetamine.

An ANF team had stopped a vehicle on GT Road and arrested two men identified as Muhammed Asif and Taos Khan. They found 2kg of charas (a hashish form of cannabis) which had been concealed in various parts of the car.

Insaf Gul attempted to smuggle one kilogram of ice on a flight to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. ANF officers arrested him at New Islamabad International Airport.

In another operation, Saleem Khan, of Peshawar, was arrested after he attempted to transport 3.5kg of heroin.

His car was stopped and officers found the drugs concealed in four women’s suits.

The ANF spokesperson explained that three men were arrested in separate incidents after they tried to smuggle drugs through Islamabad Airport.

Saqib Khan was caught with three kilograms of ice in his bag. Zahid Hussain had 10kg in his bag when he tried to board a flight to Manchester.

A man named Muhammed Shahid also attempted to smuggle ice into Jeddah.

In another drugs operation, the ANF acted on a tip-off and intercepted a truck. They found 310kg of opium and 52kg of hashish concealed in various parts of the vehicle.

The men inside the truck, Said Afzal and Aziz ur Rehman were arrested.

The spokesperson also stated that the ANF conducted raids in Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar among other cities and seized large quantities of narcotics.

All the cases were registered under The Control of Narcotic Substance Act 1997. Further investigations are underway in order to fight drug smuggling.
