Anthony Joshua had again denied sleeping with Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom but claimed he “wished” he had.

In 2017, Amir Khan accused his wife of having an affair with Joshua during a furious row between the couple on social media.

Joshua denied the accusation, famously responding by sharing a video of Shaggy’s 2000 song ‘It Wasn’t Me’.

Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom briefly split before rekindling their marriage.

Khan later explained that there was “no truth” to the alleged affair.

Khan thought Faryal had slept with Joshua as he was influenced by a lot of fake messages on social media which claimed that the affair was going on.

He had said: “It was a made-up message.

“A lot of people were making all these fake messages saying that ‘Joshua messaged your wife and she messaged him back’.

“Then I posted it on social media and said, ‘This has happened and it’s true. And I’m calling it over. She’s no longer my wife’.

“I did feel bad, I did feel stupid at the time but the damage was done. I made that mistake in tweeting something and putting it out. I was just digging a deeper and deeper hole.

“I remember I went to see Faryal. I apologised. I said, ‘Look, I don’t know what went through my head’. And I totally changed my ways, changed the way I am.”

While Anthony Joshua denied sleeping with Faryal, a tweet from his account claimed he wished he did.

The tweet emerged on March 19, 2022, while the former heavyweight champion was at UFC London at the O2 Arena.

A fan had asked: “AJ lad did you f**k Mrs Khan back in the day?”

The reply read:

“Honestly I didn’t. With all the accusations around me name. I wish I did.”

Fans reacted to the reply.

Some laughed at the response while others believed Amir Khan would fire back.

There were also some people who felt Joshua’s Twitter account was hacked.

Anthony Joshua later posted a picture from his time at UFC London but has not responded to the tweet.

He was expected to rematch Oleksandr Usyk in May or June 2022 after the Ukrainian defeated the Brit and took the IBF, WBO and WBA heavyweight titles.

But following the invasion of Ukraine, Usyk has returned to his home country where he has joined the territorial defence battalion.

With Usyk’s immediate boxing future uncertain, the possibility of an ‘interim’ fight has been discussed for Joshua.
