"All of these were very damaging to my reputation."

Bangladeshi actor Ananta Jalil has served a legal notice to Din: The Day director Morteza Atashzamzam, accusing him of defamation.

The film was released on July 10, 2022, and Ananta plays AJ, a SWAT agent who has been sent on a mission to destroy an international drug chain and terrorists.

Iranian director Morteza Atashzamzam helmed the film and there was no issue during the shooting.

However, after the film was released, Morteza and Ananta fell out.

The Iranian director threatened to sue Ananta for a breach of contract.

In a series of documents, he stated that the film’s budget was highly inflated.

Ananta claimed that the film had cost TK 100 Crore (£8.5 million). However, Morteza claimed it only cost four.

This angered Ananta, alleging that Morteza made bogus claims against him after being encouraged to do so by conspirators.

He said: “Fans flocked to the cinema halls when my film Din: The Day was released last Eid.

“The movie created a lot of buzz and its success did not sit well with a lot of people.

“Some people were jealous and they wanted to disrupt the hype.

“With encouragement from conspirators, Morteza Atashzamzam recently published false and fabricated information about the production of Din: The Day. It received extensive media attention.”

Ananta went on to say that the matter negatively affected his reputation. He sent a legal notice to the filmmaker in September 2022 but is yet to hear back.

He continued: “All of these were very damaging to my reputation. I was humiliated.

“Moreover, they belittled Bangladesh.

“In light of these incidents, I have sent a legal notice to Morteza on 4 September through my lawyer.”

“He has not responded yet.”

Ananta now plans to file a case against Morteza in an international court.

“I also noticed that Morteza has once again joined hands with conspirators and published false, baseless, fabricated news in a few Bangladeshi dailies with the intention to defame me.

“I have decided that I will file a case against him in international court very soon.”

Ananta Jalil made his acting debut in 2010 with the film Khoj: The Search. The film also starred his wife Barsha.

In addition to acting, Ananta is also a director and producer. This includes Nishwartha Bhalobasa.

Before venturing into the Bangladeshi film industry, Ananta was a businessman, setting up his own garment factory.
