Both films share a common genre of romance
At the fourth Bangladeshi Film Festival in Kolkata, two of Pori Moni’s films were screened.
The films were Bishwoshundori and Gunin.
Bishwoshundori was released in 2020. The romance revolves around Shadhin (Siam Ahmed) and his mother Fatema Ferdousi (Chompa).
After a disastrous past relationship with former Miss Bangladesh Ema, Shadhin decides not to marry any woman, especially if she is beautiful.
The film was directed by Chayanika Chowdhury.
Meanwhile, the soundtrack was provided by Imran, Pritom Hasan, Kona, Farid Ahmed and Pintu Ghosh.
In contrast to Bishwoshundori, Pori’s 2022 film Gunin has supernatural elements.
It tells the story of a farmer from a village where paranormal activities were cast out at a dan located outside the village.
Following its release, it received mixed reviews.
Some critics claimed it was a breath of fresh air compared to other commercial Bangladeshi films.
However, others such as Shadique Mahbub Islam of The Financial Express were not so positive about the film, criticising its lack of plot depth.
The film was directed by Giasuddin Selim. He also wrote the screenplay, based on Hasan Azizul Huq’s short story of the same name.
Both films share a common genre of romance but are very different when it comes to the depth of the storylines.
The films have now been screened at the Bangladeshi Film Festival.
The actress has a number of projects in the pipeline but she stated that she has no plans to return to acting anytime soon.
Pori explained that all her time is spent on her baby son Rajya.
She said: “I have devoted all my time to Rajya.
“Even though I don’t remember much from my own childhood, when I see him play, smile and infectiously laugh, I feel like my mother must have felt the same way when I was little.
“I always miss my mother, but after Rajya was born, I started to miss her even more. However, I feel like she is always watching over me.”
On her acting plans, Pori added:
“I don’t plan on returning before he is a bit older.”
“After he is at least a year old, I will definitely return, but until then, I want to spend all my time with him.”
In August 2021, Pori Moni was arrested on alleged charges of possessing lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), crystal methamphetamine, and 30 bottles of foreign liquor from the house.
She spent nearly a month in jail.
