A video recently went viral on X showing an American woman pepper-spraying her Uber driver earlier in 2024.
The Asian driver was Muslim, and the woman allegedly assaulted the man after she saw him praying.
The video showed the American woman and another passenger sitting in the car’s back seats.
One of the passengers suddenly lunged forward with pepper spray and started to attack the driver.
The driver tried to defend himself before hastily exiting the vehicle.
However, the driver returned and quickly adjusted the gears since the car was still moving.
As he did so, the woman continued to spray him. The incident occurred in New York City.
A caption underneath the video read: “A woman was indicted on several counts, including second and third-degree assault as a hate crime, for pepper spraying a 45-year-old Uber driver in an unprovoked attack in New York City earlier this year, prosecutors said.
“Jennifer Guilbeault, 23, was charged in a New York State Supreme Court indictment one count each of second-degree assault as a hate crime, third-degree assault as a hate crime, and second-degree aggravated harassment, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
“Prosecutors accused Guilbeault of pepper spraying an Uber driver in an anti-Muslim attack on the Upper East Side in July.”

The actions of the American woman were met with disgust from users.
One person commented: “Give her 15 years minimum.”
Another user said: “Why would she do that? He did absolutely nothing to her. She deserves every consequence she’s facing.”
A third comment read: “She’s definitely insane! Luckily for her, things could have taken a different turn as the car was still moving.”
However, one comment questioned whether the American woman’s attack was indeed unprovoked.
It read: “What does Jennifer have to say for herself?
“If it’s as simple as stated, and this woman out of the blue goes nuts because the guy is praying or is a Muslim, then by all means, she deserves what she gets.
“I am thinking there is more to the story. Like what happened from the moment she got into the vehicle to the moment she sprayed him.
“If we are going to judge or form an opinion on a video, let’s see the circumstances that lead up to this.”
“Did he say the ‘P’, ‘B’, or ‘F’ word or some other lewd comment? How do we know if he did or did not threaten her?”
In response to this comment, one person wrote: “She apparently was asked by the other passenger why she did it.
“She replied, ‘He’s brown’.
“Her actions were driven by racism – case closed.”
Another reply said: “She got drunk before that. That’s what happened.”
To this, the user who posted the question answered: “If that’s all that happened beforehand, then she deserves whatever comes her way.”
