“Thank you so much for your wishes!"
Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed a baby girl at HN Reliance Hospital (Girgaon), Mumbai, on Sunday, November 06, 2022.
There had been speculation that Alia was set to give birth after the couple were spotted arriving at the hospital.
Alia Bhatt took to Instagram and shared the announcement which read:
“And in the best news of our lives, our baby is here, and what a magical girl she is.
“We are officially bursting with love, blessed and obsessed parents, love love love Ranbir and Alia.”
The post featured a picture of a lion, a lioness and their cub.

Neetu Kapoor and Soni Razdan were at the hospital with the couple.
Soon after Alia posted on Instagram, it was flooded with congratulatory messages from her friends in the industry and fans.
Ranbir’s sister Riddhima said: “Thank you so much for your wishes!
“I am actually in France right now, but I can’t wait to see the newborn!
“We are all very excited in the family. My mom will FaceTime me the minute she sees her, I am so happy!”
Alia’s father Mahesh Bhatt expressed his excitement at becoming a grandfather.
He said: “It is overwhelming to taste the ceaseless flow of life.
“It was just yesterday when Alia was a little baby who I carried in my arms. Now, she is a mumma to a baby girl.
“Today, when my overwhelmed wife Soni called me from the hospital, she said, ‘Oh, she is born’. I cannot put into words the manner in which she communicated those few words.
“There was an ocean of emotion coursing through that voice.”
Rahul Bhatt also spoke about his father’s reaction, saying:
“Oh, he is most proud. He is feeling the most proud because it’s a big day for him. His first grandchild.”
Alia’s mother Soni Razdan said: “Oh happy day! So much gratitude to life for this amazing wonderful blessing of a gift.
“Thank you all for your wishes of love. Our collective cup runneth over.”
Proud Aunt Kareena Kapoor Khan dropped a comment on Alia’s post which read:
“Ufffffff my mini Alia… can’t wait to meet her.”
Shweta Bachchan commented: “Congratulations you two!!!! Happiness and health always.”
Madhuri Dixit said: “Warmest wishes and congratulations on the birth of your sweet little baby girl.”
Akshay Kumar wrote: “Congratulations !!! Alia Bhatt, Ranbir.
“No bigger joy in the world than to have a daughter. Bless you all.”
Sonam Kapoor said: “Congratulations darling girl. Cannot wait to see your princess.”
Kapil Sharma wrote: “Congratulations mummy papa. This is the bestest gift of God you guys are blessed with. Lots of love to the little princess. God bless your beautiful family.”
Meanwhile, fans also congratulated the new parents.
One person said: “Ranbir’s dream came true.”
Another fan commented: “So Lakshmi has finally arrived… Congratulations.”
Others were seen calling her “baby Shanaya”, referring to Alia’s character from Student of the Year.
Fans are now eagerly awaiting the first pictures of the newborn as well as what she will be named.
