“He walked in and said, ‘Hello, beautiful girl'."
Aditi Rao Hydari recently shared a touching story about how her fiancé Siddharth proposed.
The couple, known for keeping their relationship private, offered fans a rare glimpse into this special moment.
The proposal took place at a location deeply meaningful to Aditi – the school in Hyderabad founded by her late grandmother.
Aditi explained how much this place meant to her.
She said: “I was closest to my nani, who passed away a few years ago.
“She started a school in Hyderabad.
“One day, Siddharth asked me if he could visit it, knowing how much it meant to me.”
For over a year, the couple had a playful inside joke.
Siddharth would drop to one knee as if he was about to propose, but then he would start tying his shoelaces instead.
This always made Aditi laugh as she never expected it to be anything more than a joke.
However, when the real proposal happened, it took Aditi by surprise.
Siddharth chose that very school for his heartfelt proposal, leaving Aditi deeply moved.
She revealed: “He got down on his knee, and I asked him, ‘Now what have you lost? Whose shoelaces are open?’
“He kept saying, ‘Addu, listen to me’.
“And then he proposed. He said he wanted to bring me to my favourite childhood place, one with my grandmother’s blessings.”
Aditi recalled her first meeting with Siddharth on the set of Maha Samudram in February 2021.
“He walked in and said, ‘Hello, beautiful girl’.
“Usually, when someone says something like this, it does not work.
“But he was being genuine. By the end of the day, he had me and pretty much everyone on the set in splits.
“He also ensured that my team and I had ghee idlis whipped up by his cook every day for the rest of the shoot.
Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth announced their engagement in March 2024.

Siddharth credited his connection with filmmaker Mani Ratnam for helping their relationship.
When Siddharth told Mani about his relationship, the latter said:
“This is the best thing that has happened to you.”
However, Aditi believes they would have fallen in love even if they had met as teenagers.
She said: “I’ve not been in too many relationships because when I see someone, I instantly know if this is my person.
“When I met Siddhu, that’s what I felt and had no doubt about it.”
“Of course, there is a process of growing together in a relationship, but I had none of that going on in my mind when I met him.
“It was all about that moment.”
The couple started dating after their first meeting. However, they needed to adapt to their varying comfort levels in public.
Aditi Rao Hydari, who has been in Mumbai since 2011, is at ease in crowds. On the other hand, Siddharth is quite shy.
He explained: “I’ve spent 20 years understanding fame, but I still try to step out without security.
“Now, when we’re together and there are cameras all around us, it makes no sense to me, purely because neither of us is the kind who can live in our ivory tower and not go out in the world.”
With this touching story, the couple has given everyone another reason to admire their relationship.
The couple is set to marry later in 2024, with their wedding planned at a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy.
