“I’m not very good at acting. I’m shy."
Bollywood’s perfectionist Aamir Khan’s daughter, Ira Khan has revealed that she prefers “not to act” as she is busy carving a niche for herself behind the camera.
Ira is certainly one of the most popular star children in Bollywood as well as being a sensational social media personality.
Recently, Ira Khan made her directorial debut with Euripides’ Medea which is based on a real-life tragedy from 431 BC.
The budding director has been keeping her fans in the know-how as she regularly posts updates on social media.
Ira shared her joy and excitement concerning her directorial debut and expressed her gratitude to everyone who watched her play.
On Instagram, she posted a series of pictures showcasing stills from her play, the team as well as the audience. She captioned it:
“8 shows in Bombay! What a feeling. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and watched our play!”
Alongside working, Ira Khan ensured she had plenty of fun. She enjoyed a rain walk with her producer. On Instagram, the pair can be seen laughing in the rain.
Ira also thanked her producer “for being the most amazing producer” and expressing how it has “been an amazing 6 months”.
Being the daughter of one of the biggest stars in Bollywood, Ira Khan certainly faces pressure.
The fact that she prefers not to act may come as a shock to many people.
However, Ira has acknowledged the need of acting “from time to time if you want to direct.”
Previously, she opened up about how her shy nature has kept her away from acting. Ira shared a video on Instagram of herself performing a dramatic scene. She captioned it:
“I’m not very good at acting. I’m shy. And it’s something I never bothered to work on because I didn’t want to act.
“Turns out.. You need to act from time to time if you want to direct. Or be able to, willing to or, at the very least, understand how it works.
“It makes me have to get over myself (which is great). Sometimes I manage, sometimes I don’t. I’m working on it. The key is participating.”
Speaking about how she decided to opt for theatre, Ira said:
“There’s no particular reason that I decided to start with theatre. I love theatre, it’s magical and all-consuming in its classical form, in the world of technology, it’s very real and physical.
“I love the suspension of disbelief that the audience allows for because then there’s so much you can express.”
Despite not planning to join Bollywood, Ira Khan’s passion for theatre is certainly inspiring.
However, it seems her brother Junaid is ready to delve into the world of Bollywood.
Previously on Koffee with Karan, Aamir Khan revealed that his son wants to be an actor. He said:
“I think Junaid wants to be in films. He wants to act, he also wants to direct and make a film. I warned him that he has chosen a tough path.
“He happens to be my son and there will always be comparisons. It’ll be probably tougher for him.”
It seems Aamir Khan’s children certainly have big aspirations. We wait to follow their journey.
