Sidhu Moosewala’s debut film Moosa Jatt is quickly becoming associated with controversies.
Following complaints of piracy in Punjabi films over the past few months, a team of forensic officers arrested three individuals from a cinema in Ludhiana.
The trio was also caught pirating several other Punjabi films including Tunka Tunka, Chal Mera Putt 3 and Kismat 2.
Vikas Virdi, the manager of the cinema, told police that he had received information that three men were making piracy films in the cinema hall.
On the day of the incident, he caught the men sitting in seats 16, 17 and 18 filming the screening of Moosa Jatt.
The accused have been identified as Manpreet Singh, Ravi Kumar and Ranveer Singh.
Since its Indian release on October 8, 2021, Moosa Jatt has been leaked on several pirated websites.
It is illegal to stream or download any film or content from pirated websites.
Complaints of piracy in Punjabi films have risen in the last few months as a result of cinemas being closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result of the pandemic, the release of many films had to be rescheduled, much to the dismay of fans.
Establishments such as restaurants, cinema halls and gyms were permitted to re-open on July 30, 2021, as the Covid-19 infection rate dropped to 2% in Punjab.
Moosa Jatt was initially delayed as a result of the film being denied the appropriate certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Fans were left disappointed upon learning of the announcement that the release date was postponed.
It has not yet been disclosed as to why the censor board denied the relevant certification.
While it was delayed in India, Moosa Jatt made its worldwide theatrical release on October 1, 2021.
Producer Rrupaali Gupta shared the news of the new release date for India on Instagram with a poster and video.
On October 5, 2021, Sidhu took to his Instagram Story to also share the latest poster for Moosa Jatt.
The poster read: “Moosa Jatt is back with a bang on 8th Oct 2021.”
Moosa Jatt stars Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in a lead role alongside Sweetaj Brar.
The film is based on the life of a farmer and explores the hardships faced by them.
Meanwhile, fans are anticipating new music from Sidhu.
In an Instagram Q&A session in September 2021, Sidhu explained that once Moosa Jatt is released, a long list of singles is to be expected.
