"paint her as some villain is shameful."
Zorawar Ahluwalia has slammed the online attacks on his influencer ex-wife Kusha Kapila, following her separation announcement.
She announced they would be separating after six years of marriage.
In a lengthy note, Kusha said:
“Zorawar and I have mutually decided to part ways.
“This hasn’t been an easy decision by any means but we know it’s the right one at this point in our lives.
“The love and life we have shared together continue to mean everything to us, but sadly, what we seek currently for ourselves doesn’t align.
“We gave it our all until we couldn’t anymore.”
Explaining that it was not an easy decision, Kusha Kapila added:
“A relationship ending is heartbreaking and it’s been a tough ordeal for us and our families.
“Thankfully, we have had some time to process this, but what we shared and built together panned for over a decade.
“We still need a lot more time and healing to get to the next phase of our lives.
“Our current focus is to get through this period with love, respect and support towards each other.”
Following Kusha Kapila’s announcement, she was subjected to brutal online attacks, with many accusing her of being too good for Zorawar.
On Reddit, one person cited an old interview and implied that Kusha felt she is now too good for him.
The user wrote: “In some interview during Covid times, she was like, ‘I married Zorawar because at the time he was way more handsome than me. I had skin and weight issues, he seemed like a catch at the time’.
“I was like ok, she’s a practical person but is she implying that it’s no longer true after her success, she thinks she’s too good for him!”
Another labelled the influencer “rude and entitled”.
Some also believed that if they were not famous, they would still be together.
After seeing his estranged wife being painted as the villain on social media, Zorawar defended Kusha and slammed the haters, calling them “shameful”.
In a post on his Instagram Story, he stated that the decision to separate was made together.
The note read:
“We realise we live public lives, but we still hold certain things sacred.”
“Our marriage and respect for each other being one of them.
“Divorce much like our marriage was a decision we both made together, after much deliberation and thought.
“It was a tough and painful decision but one we took collectively, for the sake of both of our well-being.
“What has transpired over the last 24 hours, with Kusha being subject to vile attacks online makes me sad and disappointed.
“To attack Kusha’s character and paint her as some villain is shameful.
“Let’s all please do better.”
