"I'm just hoping for some magical moments."
It is an exciting time for Balvinder Sopal as she prepares to step into the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.
The beloved EastEnders actress will appear on the BBC’s dancing competition from September 2025.
As Balvinder dusts off her dancing shoes, she divulged her excitement about the show and explained what she was excited about.
She said: “I’m in love with the Argentine Tango, but I know it’s the hardest dance to do because of the flicky legs and stuff!
“It’s the one I’m the most excited about because it’s passionate, traumatic and sexy with a real push and pull story.
“I don’t know how good I’ll be, I’m just hoping for some magical moments.”
The 46-year-old actress also revealed which judges she was excited to meet.
Balvinder Sopal continued: “[I’m excited about] meeting all the judges and hearing all their feedback, even from Craig!
“Taking on a different persona for different dances, as you get to be a new character each week, and I also think it can do a lot for your confidence.
“This was my year of saying yes to things and being seen, so when Strictly came along, fantastic!”
Along with Balvinder, Strictly Come Dancing 2025 will feature celebrities including Harry ‘Nitro’ Aikines-Aryeetey and Dani Dyer.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, Alex Kingston, and George Clarke will also appear in the ballroom.
The 2025 series will also include the 23-year-old model Ellie Goldstein – the first model with Down Syndrome to feature on the cover of British Vogue Magazine.
Meanwhile, Balvinder Sopal is famous for starring as Suki Panesar-Unwin on EastEnders – a role she has played since January 2020.
Her key storylines include escaping the clutches of her cruel ex-husband Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry) and coming out as a lesbian later in life.
The latter plot led to her relationship and subsequent marriage to Eve Panesar-Unwin (Heather Peace).
Their onscreen nuptials marked the first lesbian wedding in EastEnders.
Recently however, EastEnders fans saw Suki heartbroken when Eve drifted apart from her.
This was following the fallout of Suki pressuring her granddaughter, Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) to let her and Eve raise her unborn baby.
With Eve’s support, however, Avani later decided to abort the foetus.
While Balvinder Sopal’s storylines in EastEnders continue to be nothing short of dramatic, her Strictly Come Dancing experiences promise to be enriching and fulfilling.
