Vasay Chaudhry has announced his departure from the comedy talk show Mazaaq Raat after eight years.

Taking to Instagram, he clarified that although he was leaving the show, he was not leaving the industry and that there was plenty more he had to offer.

Vasay stated: “After 1,235 shows, seven years and ten months, 2500 plus guests, my journey with Mazaaq Raat comes to an end.

“I would like to thank ALL the guests who gave me the honour of interviewing them.”

He credited his fellow team members, the late Amanullah Khan, Mohsin Abbas, Sakhawat Naz, Aima Baig and Hina Niazi, to name a few.

Vasay also praised Dunya TV chairman Mian Amir Mahmood for giving him freedom on the show and for not interfering in his method of work.

Vasay revealed that the show was a favourite of his late father.

The statement continued: “It would never have been possible without our viewers. Wherever Urdu and Punjabi could be understood they sent us their love, no matter which country they were in.

“This show would always be super special to me because it was liked by my late father as well.

“So many guests that are not in this world today, and they gave me so many memories to cherish.”

Vasay admitted that the show had experienced problems a few times, the intention was to stay positive and family-friendly.

Urging viewers to give the incoming host the same appreciation they had shown him, Vasay added:

“I would also like to wish luck to whoever comes in after me. Please show them the same love and admiration that you showed me.

“We all just try to entertain you.”

Fans of the show took to Instagram to express their feelings after Vasay’s announcement.

One fan wrote: “It was one of my most favourite shows, and the main reason behind liking the show was obviously YOU.

“Kher [anyway] good luck for your new ventures! You have done a great job.”

Another fan wrote: “No one will be able to fill your shoes sir. It won’t be the same without you.”

A third said:

“Your talent, dedication, and passion have shown brightly throughout your time on the show.”

“You will be dearly missed, and the memories of Mazaaq Raat will forever hold a special place in our hearts. All the best.”

Aima Baig started as a co-host on the show and was recognised for her singing talents. She then left to focus on singing full-time and gave up her place to Hina Niazi.
