"I keep hearing that, ‘You are exploding India'.”
Dwayne Johnson, commonly known as The Rock, has said he “appreciates the love” he gets from Bollywood stars.
The American wrestler turned Hollywood actor, known for his big-budget action movies, said in an interview with the Hindustan Times:
“I get a lot of love from Bollywood actors and I appreciate the love.
“I see what they post and how they comment. That means a lot to me.”
Johnson, who has previously worked with Priyanka Chopra Jonas in Baywatch (2017), based on the hit television series of the same name, added:
“A lot of times, [since they are] actors [they could be just] acting, but the love that I get from a lot of actors in India is genuine.
“I feel it, all the way, over here. I love the energy and the love from India has been unbelievable over the years.
“By the way, I was tracking this love when I was wrestling in WWE because wrestling is very big in India.”
He continued: “I wrestled full time… maybe three to four years. It was a very short career. And I never made it to India.
“But I can’t wait to come there. The love that I got as a wrestler and now certainly as an actor (is amazing).
“I keep hearing that, ‘You are exploding India’.”
The Rock previously interacted with Indian actor and mega-fan Varun Dhawan on social media back in 2019.
It came after Dhawan shared a video of his face edited onto the former WWE wrestler’s body.
Johnson was asked about it and whether he would consider working in Bollywood. He replied:
“He is such a big fan. I’ve interacted with him before on social media. And I know, he is a big star in India.
“Yeah, so maybe one day, you never know, you could see me in a Bollywood action movie.
“That’d be a lot of fun because I know that we have a lot of wonderful fans in India, and we have talked about that.”
“So, maybe one day.”
Dwayne Johnson will next appear in the upcoming action thriller Red Notice (2021), directed by Rawson Marshall Thurber.
The movie will follow an Interpol agent who attempts to hunt down and capture the world’s most wanted art thief.
Red Notice also stars Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot. The action-comedy releases in theatres on November 5, 2021, and November 12 on Netflix.
