"Who allows you to judge anyone?"

Television personality Shaista Lodhi defended the marriage between cricketer Shoaib Malik and actress Sana Javed.

Shoaib and Sana shocked many by tying the knot in January 2024.

The cricketer married Sana after divorcing his second wife Sania Mirza. They had been married for 13 years.

Meanwhile, Sana also split from her husband of three years – Umair Jaswal.

Some fans expressed disappointment about Shoaib and Sana’s union on X.

One fan wrote: “Going from Sania Mirza to Sana Javed is a downgrade for sure.

“But going from Umair Jaswal to Shoaib Malik is so much worse.”

Another commented: “Genuinely sad for Sania Mirza. She faced so much hate for marrying Shoaib Malik.”

Shaista Lodhi slammed the judgment directed towards her “dear friends” Sana and Shoaib. She also blamed social media for the negativity. She said:

“Two adults liking and choosing each other to spend the rest of their lives together – there’s nothing wrong with that, is there?

“People have a lot of time on social media, way too much.

“Both of them (Shoaib and Sana) are my very dear friends.

“Whether or not I guessed, these are individual choices.

“Oftentimes, to save ourselves from a lot, we do not express things as they are happening in our lives.”

Expressing her anger at social media, Shaista continued:

“Social media is truly a waste of time.

“People have a lot of free time. They judge people however they want.

“One cannot write everything happening in their lives.

“It’s not necessary that if you’ve experienced something unpleasant, you share it. Why is that necessary?

“Who allows you to judge anyone, who they’re meeting?”

The star also questioned the alleged problem about the marriage, highlighting that the couple are adults:

“My work is to be on television, perform there – judge me based on that.

“What’s happening in my personal life, who I am or am not with, what I think about anyone else – why should I share this?

“And those two aren’t children. If two people are happy together, what’s wrong with that? Why are people upset?”

Underlining the irresponsibility shown on online platforms, Shaista Lodhi added:

“They share disgusting thumbnails to make their videos go viral.

“They don’t think about the fact that Sana has a sister, brother, she has others in her family.

“Even those who were in her and Shoaib’s life before this, those people have their own dignity and respect.”

Sharing her personal reaction to the criticism, Shaista concluded:

“I started crying when I was reading the comments.

“How can people drag families through the mud like this?”

“People commenting should think about whether or not they would tolerate it if their families were spoken about in the same way.

“I don’t know why we can’t see people happy and have to dig through their skeletons.”

While many criticised the marriage, some expressed happiness for Shoaib and Sana.

Saba Faisal wrote: “I pray to God that you stay together forever and never stop holding hands.

“Stay happy and blessed. Congratulations Shoaib and Sana.”

Nadia Hussain said: “Masha’Allah congratulations.”
