Police are searching for a 22-year-old man for allegedly killing his father at a property in Canada.

Reportedly, an altercation outside a property in Stoney Creek, located in Canada’s central province of Ontario, preceded the alleged killing.

Just before 8 pm on February 10, 2024, Hamilton Police were called to the home, located near the intersection of Trafalgar and Mud Street.

At the property, officers discovered a 56-year-old man with severe injuries.

The man was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The man was identified as Kuldip Singh, a resident of Stoney Creek.

In a statement, police have identified the suspect as Sukhraj Cheema-Singh, the son of the deceased. He is wanted for first-degree murder.

According to police, Kuldip Singh had an altercation with his son outside his home. Singh left then returned and attacked his father with a weapon.

The altercation was witnessed by a family member and several neighbours.

The family member said: “The father was so strong that he stood in the way. He didn’t even let him go inside the house.

“That father was so brave he took it all himself.

“I’ve been crying since last night. He was an awesome man. Why would somebody kill a guy like that?”

Meanwhile, one neighbour said his home CCTV showed a vehicle parked on the street a couple of doors down from the deceased’s home and a person getting out and loitering.

The neighbour told The Hamilton Spectator:

“They’re stalking around, for probably 20 minutes before, if not longer.”

He said the person walked “very briskly” towards the home but the camera did not show what happened next.

The neighbour added:

“Then he came back and sped right off.”

Witnesses said Singh fled the scene after the altercation.

Singh was last seen driving a dark blue mid-size SUV, travelling northbound on Trafalgar towards Mud Street.

Police said he had been in the area for 30 minutes before the altercation occurred. It was also revealed that Singh had been previously known to police.

Singh remains at large and police said he is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Sergeant Robert Di Ianni, of Hamilton Police, said:

“We believe it was a targeted incident. Mr Cheema-Singh had attended the area prior, he was there approximately half an hour and there was an altercation.”

Police executed a search warrant on Singh’s home in Sterling Street but could not locate him.

Police are appealing for witnesses and video.

Anyone with either is asked to contact authorities by calling 905-546-3843.
