"Two years later, it has finally reached audiences."

Filmmaker Raihan Rafi’s highly anticipated web film Omimangshito has finally been released after nearly two years of delays.

The thriller is now streaming on the iScreen platform, making it accessible in Bangladesh and abroad.

A press conference marking the release was held at Channel I’s Roof Baranda on December 15, 2025, with the cast and crew present.

Rafi, along with actors Imtiaz Rain, Tanzika Amin, AK Azad Setu, Sheuti, Abdullah Al Sentu, and Shahjahan Sourav, attended the event.

From its early production, Omimangshito attracted attention due to speculation connecting the story to the 2012 Sagar-Runi murder case.

Addressing the rumours, Rafi clarified that the film is not based on the journalist couple’s tragic murder.

Rafi said: “We made the film with deep commitment as a team, and I waited a long time for its release.”

He added: “Omimangshito was halted for several reasons. Two years later, it has finally reached audiences for viewing.”

Rafi explained that the story reflects the unresolved cases in Bangladesh rather than any specific criminal incident.

He said: “If the film can inspire even one viewer to question, protest, or demand justice, that will be our greatest success.”

The filmmaker recalled the obstacles faced in 2024, noting that the release was blocked just days before its scheduled premiere.

“Although there is no formal requirement for web content to seek clearance from the censor board, we submitted the film anyway.”

He continued: “It was blocked at the time. This created uncertainty and frustration among the cast and production team.”

Following the July 2024 mass uprising, the censor board was restructured and renamed the Film Certification Board to allow web content releases.

After an appeal process, Omimangshito finally obtained permission, enabling the film to reach audiences legally and safely.

Actor Tanzika Amin reflected on the prolonged uncertainty, saying:

“Everyone kept asking the same question—when will it be released, or will it ever be released?”

She added: “We had to answer that repeatedly. Now, finally Omimangshito is out, and viewers can experience the film online.”

Rafi and his team expressed gratitude for the patience and support of their fans during the two-year delay of the project.

Omimangshito’s release marks a significant moment for Bangladeshi web content, reflecting both the challenges and resilience of digital filmmakers.

The press conference concluded with the cast and crew expressing excitement for viewers’ reactions and appreciation for their long-awaited project.
