“I started crying when he said that"
Neena Gupta revealed that there was an incident where she was shouted at by David Dhawan, leaving her in tears.
The incident happened on the set of the 1994 comedy Eena Meena Deeka, which was directed by David.
In the film, Neena had a small role as a beggar, despite being a National Award-winning actress at the time.
She asked David Dhawan to give her character some lines, however, he lashed out at her.
On the incident, Neena said:
“I started crying when he said that and a whole lot of actors were there, and I felt very bad.
“Juhi Chawla was there and she took me inside and said, ‘Don’t worry, I have also cried many times when I started out’.
“And then she explained that David is in a very tough situation, he has too much stress, and this and that.
“But my thing is, I always have this amazing capability of moving on.
“I used to pray so many times to God, ‘Hey God, let this film not release’.”
Neena went on to say that while she has moved on from the incident and is on good terms with David, she will never forget it.
“I am very friendly with David, I don’t keep it inside me. I am very friendly with him and his wife.
“But I will never forget it. I forgive but I will never forget.”
“I moved on, I don’t know how. God has given me that strength.”
Eena Meena Deeka also starred Rishi Kapoor and Vinod Khanna.
Neena Gupta is coming off the launch of her autobiography, titled Sach Kahun Toh.
Kareena Kapoor Khan launched the book and the pair discussed various matters.
During the conversation, Neena recalled being on the verge of marrying one man.
She said that he cancelled their marriage at the “last minute” while she was out shopping.
On what happened, Neena said: “Till today I don’t know.
“That happened. But what can I do? I moved on.
“I would have loved to get married to him. I had a lot of respect for his father, mother.
“I was living in their house. He’s going to read, he’s alive, he’s happily married. He has children.”
On the film front, Neena was last seen in the Netflix film Sardar Ka Grandson. The film also starred Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh.
