"I didn’t want to be a part of it."

Kriti Sanon has broken her silence on Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely death and explained why she decided to remain tight-lipped.

The pair starred together in Raabta and were rumoured to be dating but both denied the speculation.

In June 2020, Sushant’s death shocked the world.

Shortly after his death, Kriti shared a post in memory of Sushant. She had written:

“Sush… I knew that your brilliant mind was your best friend and your worst enemy… but it has broken me completely to know that you had a moment in your life where dying felt easier or better than living.

“I so wish you had people around you to get you past THAT moment, I wish you hadn’t pushed the ones who loved you away… I wish I could have fixed that something which was broken inside you… I couldn’t…

“I wish so so many things…

“A part of my heart has gone with you… and a part will always keep you alive. Never stopped praying for your happiness and never will.”

However, when Sushant’s death received a lot of media attention, Kriti went quiet.

She has now broken her silence and revealed why she decided to stay away from all the attention.

Kriti said: “At one point, there was so much noise around that I didn’t want to be a part of it.

“It reached a point where people stopped being sensitive, and there was too much negativity around.

“I didn’t want to be a part of that negativity.”

She went on to say that she felt better keeping her thoughts on the situation to herself, adding that one does not need to always discuss matters out loud.

Kriti explained: “I knew what I felt about the situation and I wanted to keep that to myself.

“I didn’t feel the need to talk to anyone about anything that I was feeling.”

“Also, what you want to say, you can always say it on social media. You can write and express yourself instead of talking out loud.”

Since his death, Kriti Sanon has been remembering Sushant in her own way.

In January 2021, she shared a photo of the actor on what would have been his 35th birthday.

She wrote: “This is how I’ll remember you… Smiling like a child!

“Happy Birthday, Sush. I hope you are smiling and at peace wherever you are…”

On the work front, Kriti Sanon will play a diverse range of characters. She believes she is in a position to try something different and challenging.

“When you establish yourself a bit and people are liking you and the film is doing the numbers that you want to do, it gives you the confidence to take up something challenging.

“I feel as an actor you also get bored repeating yourself and the audience also gets bored seeing you in the same kinds of films.

“Yes, there is a deliberate attempt to try to do something different and not repeat yourself.

“I have also been lucky enough to have liked scripts that belong to different genres.

“If tomorrow there are two horror comedies I am loving, I would do both. It is a nice feeling for me to do something different and not repeat myself.”
