"I have raw talent like Meryl Streep for layered character depictions"
Actress Kangana Ranaut is always super active on Twitter, posting controversial tweets about everything and everyone.
She was recently involved in several Twitter feuds with other Indian celebrities and even responded to tweets from Rihanna, Greta Thunberg and others, about the Indian farmers’ protest.
If this was not enough to shock her followers, Kangana decided to surprise everyone again with a series of tweets on Tuesday, February 9, 2021.
In her first post, she declared to “have a raw talent” like the Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep and skilled action and glamour like actress Gal Gadot.
Kangana’s tweet read:
“Massive transformation alert, the kind of range I display as a performer no other actress on this globe has that right now, I have raw talent like Meryl Streep for layered character depictions but I can also do skilled action and glamour like Gal Gadot #Thalaivi #Dhaakad.”
Along with the tweet, the actress shared several pictures from her upcoming movies, Thalaivi and Dhaakad, praising herself for being able to play a variety of different characters, and showing her weight gain for the roles.

In a matter of minutes, the tweet went viral, triggering thousands of followers.
Her arrogance did not go unnoticed to many followers and prominent personalities, with most netizens trolling her for being “narcissistic”.
Even fans warned her that arrogance might put an end to her career.
Others mocked her by saying that there is no competition at all.

However, some netizens came to her defence, supporting Kangana and accusing the haters of “hypocrisy”.

Kangana’s outspoken nature did not stop her from tweeting again. This time, she compared herself to the likes of Tom Cruise and Marlon Brando.

A few hours later, as a response to lots of negative comments, she added to be “open for debate” if anyone could show her a more talented actress than her.
In another tweet, she kept comparing herself to Meryl Streep, by saying:
“Anyone who is asking how many oscars I have can also ask how many national or Padma awards Meryl Streep has, answer is none, come out of your slave mentality.
“High time you all find some self respect and self worth.”
To defend her claims, Kangana even declared that Meryl Streep could never do films like Queen and Tanu Weds Manu.
On Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in response to Kangana’s tweets, actor Ishaan Khatter shared a quote by Meryl Streep to honour her.
The quote read:
“My achievement, if you can call it that, is that I’ve basically pretended to be extraordinary people my entire life, and now I’m being mistaken for one.”
If we really want to compare the two actresses, Kangana Ranaut is a three-time winner of the National Film Award.
On the other hand, Meryl Streep was nominated for a record 21 Academy Awards, of which she won three, and she also had 32 Golden Globe nominations, winning nine.
It is not clear why Kangana started to compare herself to Hollywood celebrities out of nothing, but it definitely made quite a stir online.
