Jameela Jamil slammed over Luigi Mangione Comment f

"A star is born."

Jameela Jamil came under fire for her comment about Luigi Mangione.

Following a lengthy manhunt, Mangione was arrested in Pennsylvania and charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

He also faces three gun charges and forgery.

Mr Thompson was shot dead in New York City on December 4, 2024, as he tried to make his way to his company’s annual conference.

He had been scheduled to host the company’s annual investor meeting and was set to detail the company’s profits for the year.

Mangione remains in a Pennsylvania jail without bail.

But while the manhunt to find Mangione was underway, social media was filled with people commenting on him.

The sainthoax Instagram account shared images, including a shirtless picture of Mangione alongside the caption: “Person of interest in CEO shooting identified as Luigi Mangione.”

It added: “They (allegedly) got him.”

The upload was flooded with comments but it was Jameela Jamil’s which sparked controversy.

She wrote: “A star is born.”

Many were shocked by her remark, with one writing: “Shameful”.

Another said: “The snort I snonked at this comment OMG.”

However, others were amused by Jameela’s comment as one replied:

“You made my wig leave my body.”

According to police, the shooter had been “lying in wait for several minutes” before shooting Mr Thompson from behind.

Mangione was arrested after a McDonald’s worker in Altoona believed they recognised him as the gunman.

One employee then called the authorities after a customer also mentioned quietly to them that he resembled the man that authorities had been hunting.

When police arrived, they found the suspect wearing a medical mask and looking at a silver laptop computer, with his backpack on the floor near the table.

He proceeded to give officers a New Jersey driver’s license bearing the name Mark Rosario.

When an officer asked if he had been to New York recently, he allegedly “began to shake”.

After Mangione’s arrest, his family said:

“Our family is shocked and devastated by Luigi’s arrest.

“We offer our prayers to the family of Brian Thompson and we ask people to pray for all involved.”

In a statement, UnitedHealth Group said:

“Our hope is that today’s apprehension brings some relief to Brian’s family, friends, colleagues and the many others affected by this unspeakable tragedy.”
