An Indian woman has had intimate videos of herself leaked to more than 80 pornographic websites.

The woman from Calcutta reportedly earned £30 for appearing in a shoot, which mostly took place in Salt Lake’s Central Park.

However, she only agreed with the promise that the videos would only be able to be viewed outside India.

Despite this, her videos got leaked to 84 pornographic sites accessible in India.

According to the police, the two people who got the woman to appear for the shoot demanded money from her after she asked for the videos to be taken down.

The people in question are photographer Pratap Ghosh and makeup artist Jaysree Mitra.

Police arrested Ghosh and Mitra after the woman made a complaint with Bidhannagar police on Saturday, July 24, 2021.

According to her, three of the six videos made from the March 2021 shoot became accessible on the pornographic sites.

Speaking of the case, an officer of the Bidhannagar Commissionerate said:

“The victim has told us that she was promised that none of her videos would be accessible to people in India.

“But after a few weeks of the shoot, she came to know through a friend that her videos were available on multiple pornographic sites, all accessible from the country.

“Panicked, the woman, who works at a private firm, requested Ghosh and Mitra to take down the videos.

“She was allegedly told that the videos would be taken down only if she paid up.

“The two apparently cited the expenses they had incurred and asked her to compensate them if she wanted to have the videos removed.”

Speaking of how the shoot came to be, the police said the woman was lured in by Mitra after he befriended her on Facebook.

The officer continued:

“Initially, she was told that the shoot was part of a modelling assignment.

“Then she was asked to shoot with fewer clothes and was told that 25 other women had done similar shoots.”

The police have since found the profiles of multiple other women in the app where the woman’s videos were first uploaded.

According to the woman’s husband, their aim was to simply get the videos removed from the Internet.

However, when Ghosh and Mitra began to demand money from them, they felt compelled to lodge a police complaint.

The police booked Ghosh and Mitra under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act.

The pair appeared in Bidhannagar court on Sunday, July 25, 2021. The court remanded Mitra in police custody for two days, and Ghosh for five days.
