Indian Policeman’s Young Wife found Suspiciously Dead

An investigation is underway after an Indian policeman’s wife was found dead under suspicious circumstances.

The incident happened in the town of Nawanshahr, Punjab, on Sunday, May 10, 2020.

Police have identified the victim as 24-year-old Neha. Following the discovery of her body, her husband and his family are nowhere to be found.

Neha’s family have alleged that her in-laws were to blame for her death.

Her father, Suresh Kumar, told police that Neha got married to Himmat Kumar on February 9, 2019.

Himmat was originally from the village of Majhot and was a police officer posted in Ludhiana.

At the time of her marriage, Neha had been studying for her Master’s degree.

It was revealed that the in-laws had demanded a car as dowry just days before the wedding. According to Suresh, the in-laws continued to harass Neha even though the dowry request was fulfilled.

The constant harassment even resulted in a panchayat getting involved to resolve the issue on a number of occasions.

On May 9, 2020, Suresh met with his daughter while he spoke to her on the phone the next day. He explained that his daughter sounded upset.

At around 3 pm, Suresh received a call which was about his daughter.

Following the phone call, he went to the in-law’s house with his son and nephew. They found Neha’s body lying on the bed.

Suresh noticed a bruise on her throat which made him believe that a rope was used to strangle her to death. He became even more suspicious when he saw that the Indian policeman and his family were nowhere to be seen.

Suresh called the police and informed them about what happened. He also said that Himmat and the in-laws were missing.

Police arrived at the scene and took Suresh’s statement. Based on what he said, a case was registered.

Meanwhile, Neha’s body was taken to the Government Hospital in Balachaur where it has been kept in the mortuary.

An investigation is underway and police are currently searching for the whereabouts of Himmat and his family members.

Officers have stated that they will be arrested once they are found.

In another incident, a student living in Canada died under suspicious circumstances.

Navjot Singh, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had gone to Canada to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce.

Kashmir Singh explained that his 18-year-old son had gone to Canada on September 3, 2019, for his studies. He went on to say that he did not suspect anything which may have resulted in his death.

Kashmir revealed that he spoke to his son on April 19, 2020, and everything seemed fine.

However, the next morning, Navjot’s body was discovered. The Indian Embassy in Canada informed the family of his death.

The family are especially upset because they do not know the reason for Navjot’s death. There is also an issue with bringing his body back to India due to flights being cancelled.
