"What were you doing with that girl?"
An Indian policeman was caught on camera sexually harassing a schoolgirl.
The incident happened in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The video was filmed by a man who was on a motorcycle with a woman.
It shows the officer, dressed in his uniform, on a motorcycle and following the girl, who was on her bike and appeared to have finished school.
The officer rides alongside the girl and talks to her. The girl appears uncomfortable with what he is saying as she tries to ignore him by continuing to look ahead.
The woman speeds up to ride beside the officer and confront him.
She asks him what he is doing but he cannot hear her. The woman then asks the officer to stop on the side of the road, giving the girl an opportunity to escape.
The woman then asks: “What were you doing with that girl?”
The officer claims that the girl is a friend of his daughter.
But the woman does not believe him, stating that he has been seen stalking and harassing other schoolgirls in the area.
The officer removes his helmet while the woman asks for his vehicle number.
He says that because it is an electric vehicle, it does not have one.
The woman is heard asking her friend if he got the footage.

The video went viral and the incident shocked internet users.
Many called for action to be taken against the perpetrator.
One wrote: “With immediate effect, cognisance should be taken on this and proper investigation should be done, it should be punished severely.”
Another said: “He should be put in jail with immediate effect.”
Others praised the woman for confronting the Indian policeman.
One wrote:
“We salute you Ma’am!! Every lady has to be as brave as her.”
A combination of the viral video and a case registered by the girl’s parents led police to take action.
The Indian policeman was identified as Shahdat Ali and he was suspended while further action was being taken.
Aparna Kaushik, DCP Central, Lucknow said:
“Taking swift action, he has been suspended with immediate effect. A case has been registered against him and further action is being taken.”
DCP East Lucknow, Hirdesh Kumar added:
“A case was registered under appropriate sections of the IPC dealing with harassment by a government employee and also provisions of the POCSO Act were imposed on the accused.”
