"Psyched to be part of this re-imagining"
Asim Abbasi is set to direct an episode of the live-action adaptation of the much-loved children’s book, The Famous Five.
It is believed that Abbasi is directing the second episode of the series, which is written by Priya K Dosanjh.
The show will be also directed by Tim Kirkby and Bill Eagles.
The famous Enid Blyton novel will be adapted into a three-episode live-action series by BBC and ZDF productions.
The Famous Five follows the journey of three siblings, Julian, Dick, and Anne, who spend the holidays in Kirrin Cottage with their cousin George and her dog Timmy.
Together, the group of five solve mysteries in the area and on Kirrin Island, an island that belongs to cousin George.
Each episode is believed to be 90 minutes. Although filming has already begun, a release date is still yet to be announced.
Asim Abbasi is a well-known director who is well known for Churails, which starred Sarwat Gillani, and Cake, which included names such as Sanam Saeed and Aamina Sheikh.
He has recently directed the popular comedy series Count Abdulla.
Taking to Instagram, Asim revealed his excitement to be part of this much-loved classic. He said:
“Psyched to be part of this re-imagining, to go back in time and jolt awake the inner child, and (finally!) direct something that my boy can watch. This ones for you kid.”
Diaana Babnicova will play George, Elliott Rose will play Julian, Kit Rakusen plays Dick and Flora Jacoby Richardson plays Anne.
Other stars of the show include Game of Thrones‘ Jack Gleeson, Moon Knight’s Ann Akinjirin, Ted Lasso’s James Lance and Father Brown’s Diana Quick.
Tim Kirkby, who is directing the first episode, said of the cast:

Set in the picturesque backdrop of the South West of the UK, the show promises to captivate audiences with its modern take on the classic tales and the strong bond of camaraderie between the brave young heroes.
It is reported that the upcoming series has already been pre-sold to TF1, indicating that the show is set to be shown globally.
