It has been reported that Anurag Kashyap is set to direct the Hindi version of Quentin Tarantino’s masterpiece Kill Bill.

Actor and producer Nikhil Dwivedi has said that he is keen on creating an Indian version of Kill Bill (Vol. 1 and 2).

Nikhil stepped into production with the highly successful Veere Di Wedding. This was followed by Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3.

The project was last heard about some time ago. For now, Nikhil appears to have moved onto the Naagin trilogy, starring Shraddha Kapoor.

However, he still very much wishes to produce the Indian adaptation of Kill Bill and professed as much in an interview with Bollywood Life.

Opening up on the progress that the Kill Bill adaptation has made since he last spoke about it, Nikhil Dwivedi said:

“It’s more of a homage that I want to create. I won’t say that I want to remake Kill Bill.

“But that’s a work in progress for sure. It’s been worked out. Anurag Kashyap is working on it, and hopefully, we should be into the first stage soon.”

On the actors who could star in the adaptation, Nikhil added:

“I think I’ll leave that to the director (Kashyap) —he has one or two (contenders) in his mind, and as soon as we form some kind of formality in our minds, we’ll certainly speak to them.”

Reports suggest that Shahrukh Khan, who has been keeping a low profile ever since his film Zero tanked at the box office, may play an interesting role in the Bollywood version of the film.

Shahrukh Khan may be roped in to play the antagonist ‘Bill’ of Kill Bill, originally played by David Carradine.

As per a report in Mid-Day, Nikhil who is good friends with Shahrukh, approached the Raees actor to star in a pivotal role of the film.

Nikhil wants Anurag Kashyap to helm the film.

The maverick filmmaker is known for making unconventional films with impressive elements and characters.

In 2019, the director delivered Manmarziyaan, where we see a dominant female character in the form of Taapsee Pannu.

Now, Anurag is writing a women-oriented script which will be a vengeance drama. The film will be a homage to Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, which featured Uma Thurman in the lead role.

Talking about Kill Bill, it narrates the story of a bride (Uma), who swears revenge on a group of assassins and their leader Bill, who attacked her and her unborn child.

Anurag seems to be a huge fan of Quentin because we have seen the Hollywood director explaining his films through chapters, a concept that was mirrored by Anurag Kashyap in Black Friday.

It will be quite interesting to see which Bollywood actor will fill the big shoes left by Uma Thurman in her feisty and fearless character.

The question remains as to whether the Indian version of the film will do justice to the iconic series, given that the film was also shot in Japanese and Chinese, leaving little room for further experimentation.

Nevertheless, watching SRK potentially playing a villainous character after Bazigar, Dar and Don, his fans cannot wait for yet another successful execution.
