"Dragged, detained for standing in peace."
Actor Ayesha Khan has revealed that she was detained by Mumbai police while attempting to show solidarity with student protesters.
The actress, known for her special song ‘Shararat’ in Dhurandhar, shared a video statement from the police station on Instagram.
She detailed how she and a group of male and female friends had gathered at Dadar to support the ongoing student demonstrations.
Ayesha arrived at the protest site at 4 PM and said she was detained even before she could say a single word.
She had not displayed any slogan or made any gesture when a police officer informed her that she could not protest there.
Ayesha responded by asking: “Please tell us what is the other option?”
Before any further conversation could take place, the police pulled her brother and friend without providing any explanation whatsoever.
Around fifteen police personnel, ten men and five women, then told Ayesha and her friends to get inside the van.
She said: “I was pulled by 4-5 women. I used all my strength to try not to get into the van, but they pulled us in.
“We asked for answers inside the van about what our mistake was and why we were detained, but there was no response or accountability.
“From Dadar, we were taken to Worli.”
She acknowledged that the police at Worli treated them with respect once they arrived at that location.
However, her central question remained unanswered throughout the entire ordeal she and her friends experienced that day.
In a separate post, Ayesha also shared the video footage of herself being physically pushed inside the police van.
In the caption accompanying the video, she wrote: “Dragged, detained for standing in peace.
“Asked questions to all the police people present there on why we were being detained? But no answer whatsoever!
“Since when is standing on the road a crime?
“Today will be the most peaceful sleep of my life. I stood for what was right!”
“Still in the police station asking the same question! Why am I detained? Which law did I break?

“Forget about one’s democratic right and protecting it; instead, you are harming your own citizens, for what?
“I see shame in some of their eyes, but they are bound by their duties; they know, we know, what’s right and what’s wrong.
“My stand is clear. We lack accountability, EVERYWHERE.
“I still have hope we will see a better future.”
The incident in Mumbai came on the third consecutive day of protests that have now spread to several cities across India.
The demonstrations were originally sparked in New Delhi by the Cockroach Janta Party at Jantar Mantar earlier in the week.
