“Quality content stands on its own merit and doesn't require vulgarity“

Aagha Ali recently appeared on the FHM podcast, discussing various aspects of the entertainment industry.

He emphasised the importance of conveying messages tastefully and within norms, citing Pakistani dramas as examples of respectful content creation.

The host asked Aagha Ali if there are many movies and dramas that have been deemed controversial due to the aspect of vulgarity, like Joyland for instance.

He questioned: “Should they be allowed?”

Aagha disagreed and said they should not.

“Quality content stands on its own merit and doesn’t require vulgarity to make an impact. Perception plays a significant role, as audiences bring their own interpretations to the table.

“In some scenes, I lay in bed with female co-stars, maintaining a safe distance of 2.5 feet, with a blanket covering us.

“While the scene is innocuous, some viewers might wonder if I’m even wearing pants, demonstrating how assumptions can lead to misconceptions.

“It’s essential to recognise that vulgarity often lies in the eye of the beholder, rather than the content itself.”

Aagha also highlighted the need to respect co-stars’ boundaries. He revealed instances where he intervened to modify scenes due to objections from actresses’ life partners.

Aagha shared: “There are some scenes in which I have to hold a woman’s hand or touch her shoulder. I always ask the heroine if she is comfortable.

“I took a stand about 5 years ago and refused to hit a girl on screen.”

Aagha shared his experiences with the industry, stating that a significant portion has never accepted him despite his success.

His projects often go unrecognised, and he is not acknowledged by his peers.

He chooses to accept and respect his colleagues, acknowledging the industry’s small size.

The conversation also touched on award shows in Pakistan.

Aagha pointed out the lack of choreographed dances and poor presentation, saying performances are often subpar.

He expressed concerns about the awards criteria, a subject of controversy in the past.

Aagha hopes for improvement in the industry, elevating the standard of award shows and recognising deserving talent.

He emphasised the need for respect, professionalism, and tasteful content creation.

A user commented: “The industry has not treated Aagha Ali well. This may be the reason that he always talks badly about it.”

Another added: “I have never seen Aagha be a part of anything vulgar. Good for him.”

One wrote: “This is why he does not get any films. Because he refuses to be vulgar.”
