A woman dressed in a salwar kameez was caught on camera going house to house and taking Halloween sweets that were intended for trick-or-treaters.
The incident, which happened in Ontario, Canada, was shared on social media and led to an array of comments, including racist ones.
The footage showed the woman approaching a house with a bag just before 7 pm local time.
She walked up to the bowl of sweets that were left out for the children, took a handful and placed them into her bag. The woman brazenly stole some of the light decorations also before leaving.
Another clip showed the same woman walking up to another house where a large box of sweets was displayed.
She rummages through the box and takes several handfuls of confectionary, placing them into her bag.
The bizarre incident was shared on social media and Harrison Faulkner, the host of The Faulkner Show, posted the footage on his account and captioned it:
“Trick or Steal spotted in Markham, Ontario last night. What is going on?”
The woman’s brazen thefts sparked a flurry of reactions from netizens.
Some found the woman’s antics funny, with one writing:
“I guess she took ‘trick-or-treat’ a bit too literally!”
A user joked: “She might as well change her outfit to a Halloween costume for her heist!”
One person even suggested: “Maybe she thought she was trick-or-treating for herself!”

Many were shocked by what they watched as one commented:
“This is not what Halloween is about! Where are the kids supposed to get their candy?”
Another said: “Imagine the kids’ faces when they find out their sweets are gone!”
A third added: “I’ve seen it all now. What’s next?”
Some people focused their attention on the woman’s outfit and speculated that she was of Indian descent. This sparked racist comments.
One wrote: “Ladies and gentlemen, this is one microcosm of what happens when a high-trust society is flooded with low-quality people from low-trust societies.
“Have you talked to a realtor lately? Indians are ruining real estate, too. Why?
“Because in Canada, our goal isn’t to f**k each other over! Not so much in India, or China, for that matter.”

A third added: “These animals must go back. They are a parasite feeding off of our once great country.”
Some even claimed she stole the lights because she “needed them for Diwali”, however, it is not known if the woman is Indian.
