WIlls Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2014 is a major Indian fashion event. This is where we see the Fashion Design Council of India showcase established and new designers twice a year. DESIblitz brings you a preview of the Autumn-Winter event.


The event promises to outshine previous years with its exclusive selection

Ever since 1998, New Delhi has hosted the biggest fashion and trade event in Asia – Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week. Twice a year, designers from all across the country gather to treat the audience to a week of exceptional clothing and innovative design.

The event is organised by the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), famous for nurturing and promoting talented fashion designers, regardless of profit. It works in tandem with various ministries to raise the profile of Indian fashion.

Wills Lifestyle IFW Autumn-Winter 2014As part of the initiative to take Indian Fashion to Global level, the FDCI helps fashion designers, retailers, models, make-up artists, hair stylists, choreographers and manufacturers to raise their professionalism, improve and develop their business practices and aim to create domestic and international opportunities for them.

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (IFW) Autumn-Winter 2014 will start on 26th of March, New Delhi, and will feature 118 designers, involved in 56 presentations on the runway.

The event promises to outshine previous years with its exclusive selections of participants and stellar attendees.

Day One
Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week kicks off with the show of the couture maestro Tarun Tahiliani. The designer is known for presenting glamorous evening wear, adorned with embroidery and sequins. The afternoon will feature Anupamaa by Anupama Dayal, followed by Vineet Bahl.

In the evening Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Raakesh Agarvwal, Shantanu & Nikhil will present their anticipated collections. Closing Day One is Rina Dhaka, who has been treating her customers to exceptional sari-inspired clothing for nearly three decades.

Day Two
Day Two starts with the collection of ‘Myoho’ by Kiran and Meghna, inspired by the ‘mystic forces of nature’, followed by Prama by Pratima Pandey and Vaishali S. The day will also feature ‘my village’ by Rimzim Dadu MSA 1, Kallol Datta 1955 and Anand Bhushan, Nachiket Barve and Amit GT, and Charu Parashar.

In the evening, Ashima -Leena, Malini Ramani, Nikasha will showcase their collections. The latter exhibits an elegant selection of sari in bold colours and traditional prints. Ending Day Two is Rahul Mishra. The designer is famous for giving a modern twist to classic silhouettes.

Day Three
Day Three will showcase the collections of Pia Pauro and Urvashi Kaur, followed by Akaaro by Gaurav, Jai Gupta and Paromita Banerjee. The latter is famous for playing with unconventional cuts and prints.

Other notable designers, presenting the same day, include Archana Rao, Dev r Nil and Rishta by Arjun Saluja, Payal Pratap, Sanchita and Satya Paul’s shows will be showcased in the evening. Abraham and Thakore will close Day Three with a collection that celebrates simplicity.

Day Four

Day Four starts with Chhaya Mehrotra, Josh Goraya, Rinku Sobti, Saaj by Ankita and 431-88 by Shweta Kapur. In the afternoon Hemant and Nandita, Tanvi Kedia, Rajputana by Samant Chauhan, Zubair Kirmani, Virtues by Ashish, Viral and Vikrant, Mandira Wirk and Rehane will display their collections.

Soltee by Sulakshana Monga who has a presence in the UK in Birmingham will be showcasing her exquisite designs at the event on this day.

The evening’s presentations include Rabani and Rakha, Siddartha Tytler and Péro by Aneeth Arora. Pankaj and Nidhi promises to give a more than spectacular closure of the day with a whirl of futuristic cuts and psychedelic prints.

Day Five

The last day will feature notable designers including Pinnacle – Shruti Sancheti, Tanieya Khanuja, Taurus by Dhruv – Pallavi, followed by Jenjum Gadi, Mrinalini and Sahil Kochhar. In the afternoon Anita Dongre will present her latest collection, featuring elegant basics and glamorous evening wear, inspired by traditional Indian attire.

Wills Lifestyle IFW Autumn-Winter 2014The grand finale will showcase the collection of prominent Indian designer Namrata Joshipura. He has won the hearts of the public with his futuristic designs, sharp lines and clean silhouettes.

Wills Lifestyle Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2014 promises to be a significant moment in Indian fashion. The event will showcase rising Indian talent and will feature a wide range of clothing- from traditional to extremely modern, on the verge of futuristic.

The presenting designers are expected to put on a spectacular show for Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn-Winter 2014 to wow fashion loving audiences once again.
