The hotly-anticipated Jawan trailer is out and it is action-packed as Shah Rukh Khan looks to be the anti-hero audiences didn’t know they needed.

SRK plays a former soldier who leads a team of six women as they pull off various heists around India.

The trailer features a voiceover from the titular character describing himself as a “king” who keeps losing battles and is full of rage.

It then shows him hijacking a Mumbai train and dancing.

He has a masterplan but the person stopping him from achieving his goal is a police officer played by Nayanthara.

On the phone, she asks him what he wants and he jokingly says he “wants Alia Bhatt”.

While the titular character seems fierce, he also seems to have a sense of humour.

The trailer is packed with glimpses of the characters’ backgrounds as it appears as though SRK and Nayanthara’s characters were once married.

Deepika Padukone’s special appearance is also unveiled as she takes SRK down in a wrestling pit. She also issues a warning that he will lose to her.

He replies: “I lost to you ages ago.”

Although Shah Rukh appears to play a villainous role, things change when Vijay Sethupathi’s Kalee turns up.

His menacing character is the “fourth largest arms dealer in the world”.

When his actions threaten India and its citizens, SRK says he would do anything to protect his country, hinting at a showdown between the pair.

The trailer ends with a look at the protagonist’s background.

There are flashbacks of his days as a soldier and of his mother suffering.

He adds that he is willing to give up his life a million times but only for his country.

In just over two minutes, Jawan looks to be action-packed, filled with entertaining dialogue and performances.

Shah Rukh shared the trailer and wrote:

“Of justice and a Jawan. Of women and their vengeance. Of a mother and a son. And of course, a lot of Fun!

“Ready ahhh. Jawan trailer out now. Jawan releasing worldwide on 7th September, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.”

Shah Rukh had previously shared a motion poster of himself, showing off his different looks in the film. This ranges from partially masked to bald.

Jawan marks Shah Rukh and Nayanthara’s first film collaboration.

Directed by Atlee, Jawan is SRK’s second film release of 2023 after the blockbuster hit Pathaan, which came out in January.
