"Then I was offered a sequel for an old film"
Sonya Hussyn recently sat down for an interview with Independent Urdu, sharing insights into her journey in the film industry. Sonya also opened up about her experiences with Bollywood.
She revealed that she had been offered Bollywood films before the tensions between India and Pakistan escalated.
These opportunities included a Shakespearean adaptation, a sequel and a project alongside Emraan Hashmi.
Sonya said: “Shakespeare’s novel Measure for Measure was being adapted to a film. I was offered that.
“Then I was offered a sequel for an old film, I don’t remember its name. I was also offered a film with Emraan Hashmi.”
She disclosed that she had even attended a meeting for the film with Emraan Hashmi.
Ultimately she turned down the role due to her family’s reservations about her career.
She shared: “When I was offered this film, I was actually very young. My mother used to come on set with me. I was studying at that time.”
During the interview, she also revealed her desire to collaborate with a specific Pakistani star.
She stated that while Fawad Khan is an excellent actor, she would love to work with Ali Zafar.
Sonya said: “Ali Zafar has that hero charm. Fawad Khan also has it, but Ali Zafar is better in regards to acting skills.”
Sonya additionally provided a glimpse into her career trajectory, sharing her thoughts on the industry and her aspirations for future projects.
Her fans await her next move, hoping to see her on the big screen alongside talented actors like Ali Zafar.
However, many questioned the veracity of her claims that she was offered Bollywood films.
A user questioned: “Why are all these Pakistani actors suddenly revealing that they were offered Bollywood films in the past?
“If it actually happened, how come they did not disclose it all those years ago?”
Another added: “I doubt that Emraan Hashmi would even know who Sonya Hussyn is.”
One noted: “Sonya casually criticising Fawad Khan’s acting like she can match his level.”
Another asked: “Does she think we are stupid? Whatever she will say, we will believe?”
One stated: “I respect her mother’s decision for not letting her do a movie with Emraan Hashmi at such a young age.”
With notable roles in movies like Azaadi and Tich Button, Sonya Hussyn has made a name for herself in the Pakistani film circuit.
