Samantha Ruth Prabhu has joined the Indian instalment of the Citadel franchise directed by renowned creator duo Raj and DK.
Amazon Prime Video shared the first look of Samantha from the espionage series on February 1, 2023.
Citadel is a high-budget spy universe series created by the Russo Brothers, most popularly known for Avengers: Endgame.
The Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden starrer Citadel will have multiple spin-offs in many countries, and the Indian instalment of Citadel is one of them.
Varun Dhawan is also part of the Indian instalment of the series.
Sharing the first look of the series, Samantha Ruth Prabhu wrote:
“The mission is on… we have started rolling for the Indian instalment of Citadel.”
In the picture, Samantha is seen in a brown leather jacket, black trousers, and aviator glasses.
Fans and celebrities have flooded the comment section.
Many fans wrote, “The queen is back”, while others left heart and fire emojis on the post.

The Russo Brothers also shared Samantha’s look and said:
“Production has officially started for the Indian instalment of Citadel… Welcome to the team @samantharuthprabhuoffl.”
Priyanka Chopra shared Samantha’s first look on her Instagram stories and welcomed her onboard.
The Sky is Pink actor wrote: “So excited about the world of Citadel expanding. Cannot wait to share it with u all.”
In an interview with Variety, Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke talked about Citadel and revealed that it will have a spin-off series set in India, Mexico and Italy.
She said: “Local language and regional series are very important to us.
“We’re investing hugely in Citadel from the Russo Brothers.
“It’s a big global [spy thriller]. I’ve seen the first three episodes.
“The whole idea behind that show is global storytelling with standalone local series that feed into the storylines and fill in details about specific characters.
“So, there’s a show set in India featuring a big star and showrunners there who are working under the umbrella of Citadel that will fill in the details of Priyanka Chopra’s character.”
Directed by filmmakers Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, the series will be released on Prime Video.
With Citadel, Varun Dhawan is set to make his OTT debut.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu had previously worked with director Raj and DK in The Family Man 2.
Meanwhile, earlier, there were rumours that Samantha would no longer be a part of Citadel owing to her health conditions.
However, Samantha’s publicist released a statement that the rumours were not true.
