Renowned Dhallywood actress Sadika Parvin Popy has responded to allegations of land-grabbing made by her family, calling them false and deeply hurtful.
The controversy erupted when her sister, Firoza Parvin, filed a General Diary (GD) at Khulna’s Sonadanga Model Police Station on February 3, 2025.
In the complaint, Firoza accused Sadika and her husband Adnan Uddin Kamal of forcefully seizing family property and issuing death threats.
Firoza alleged that since their father’s passing, Sadika had been attempting to take control of the family land.
Their mother echoed similar sentiments, claiming that her daughter had changed significantly after marriage.
She added that Sadika was using threats to assert control over the inheritance.
In response, Sadika took to social media to defend herself, visibly emotional as she addressed the accusations.
In a video, she claimed that she had spent years financially supporting her family, ensuring their stability, and providing them with luxuries.
Sadika said: “For three decades, I dedicated my life to my career, earning respect from my colleagues and fans.”
She asserted that the allegations of land-grabbing were baseless, highlighting that she had purchased land in her siblings’ names.
Sadika also opened up about her strained relationship with her mother.
She revealed that she had never felt truly loved or cared for as a child.
Tearing up, Sadika lamented: “There are good mothers and bad mothers.
“Unfortunately, I was born to one who never showed me affection. To them, I was just a money machine.”
She further alleged that her parents had transferred her earnings to her sister’s account without her knowledge, yet she had never demanded repayment.
Sadika went on to reveal that her mother was not mentally stable.
The actress also refuted claims that she had physically assaulted her siblings, insisting that any altercation had been exaggerated.
She claimed: “My sister accused me of hitting her, but there is no evidence. She held a camera in my face, and I simply pushed it away.
“They, however, have physically assaulted me multiple times to take control of my money.”
Sadika challenged the authorities to investigate her family’s finances and verify the sources of their income.
She emphasised that she had been the primary breadwinner for years.
The actress added that now that she had stepped back, her family was retaliating with false accusations.
She expressed her desire to distance herself from the drama and live peacefully.
Sadika disclosed: “Even a few days ago, my brother brought someone with the intent to harm me.
“I have forgiven them, but now all I want is to live my life without further disturbances.”
The dispute has drawn significant public attention, with opinions divided.
Some sympathise with Sadika Parvin Popy’s struggles, while others believe that the legal system should determine the truth.
