"I will not be able to work with her.”
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has said he will never work with Mahira Khan ever again.
The statement comes after Mahira spoke out against his behaviour towards Marvi Sarmad on a live television show. The pair have not seen eye to eye since then.
Khalil recently appeared on the talk show Public Demand and revealed to host Mohsin Abbas Haider that there hasn’t been any reconciliation between the pair.
He also said on the show that many members of the entertainment industry tried to patch things up between the two and told him to leave the past in the past, but he simply said no.
Khalil explained: “I am surprised and will be surprised that as much as I had a respectful relationship with Mahira Khan, I have said many times that she could have called me if she was angry at me.
“People understood these things later. She is a very good, talented and beautiful actress, but I will not be able to work with her.”
In 2020, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar came under fire after he used derogatory language against Marvi Sarmad during a live show.
There was a huge uproar and viewers demanded that he publicly apologise to Marvi and that celebrities should avoid working with the writer.
Mahira Khan shared her anger on Twitter and questioned why he was still being given work after his very public outburst towards women.
The tweet read: “I am shocked at what I have just heard and seen! Sick to the core.
“This same man who abused a woman on TV is revered and given project after project because of what?
“We are as much to blame if not more for perpetuating this thinking!”
Mahira also tagged Khalil in her tweet and he later deemed the outburst as inappropriate and shocking.
Mahira has worked on many popular projects such as Sadqay Tumhare, Humsafar, Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay and Bin Roye.
She also starred opposite Shah Rukh Khan in the Bollywood film Raees.
Khalil-ur-Rehman had written the script for Sadqay Tumhare.
Although the show was a success, Khalil said that casting Mahira as Shanno was a sin and that he will always regret this decision.
He has also written the script for popular dramas such as Meray Paas Tum Ho, Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hai and Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua.
