An Indian man killed a 50-year-old woman after she fought back when he tried to sexually assault her.
The shocking incident occurred at a temple built in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
According to the police, 30-year-old Jitendra Trivedi tried to force himself onto the woman, resulting in her slapping him.
The accused then got drunk and out of revenge, killed the woman, identified as Sangeeta, by stoning her to death while she slept.
According to Ajmer police, a priest found the body lying in the Lotni Devi temple on Sunday, June 27, 2021.
Priest Mahavir Sharma filed a report, and the police then arrested Jitendra for murder.
During the investigation, the police found that Sangeeta slept at the Lotni Devi temple during the night. She had done so for the last two months of her life.
Reportedly, she made multiple complaints to the neighbours that a beggar named Jitendra would repeatedly keep an eye on her.
She also said he had tried to force himself on her before, during the nights she spent at the temple.
During his interrogation, Jitendra confirmed Sangeeta’s claims that he did keep an eye on her in the lead up to her death.
He also confessed to attempting to rape the woman, and killing her when she refused.
Indian men often choose stoning as a method to kill their victims.
Recently, another Rajasthan man violently killed his younger brother with a stone during an argument over house repairs.
The murder occurred in Rajasthan’s Ramganj Mandi district on May 26, 2021.
According to Ramganj Mandi police, Bhola Shankar and his brother Kamal were arguing while on the roof of Kamal’s house.
Kamal asked Bhola to remove a piece of wood from the roof sheet of his house, and he refused.
After a verbal disagreement, Bhola kicked Kamal, causing him to fall from the roof.
After Kamal landed on the floor in front of his house, Bhola picked up a stone and beat his younger brother over the head in rage.
Kamal bled profusely from the head before losing consciousness. Bhola then fled the scene.
Despite receiving treatment at Ramganj Mandi Hospital, Kamal died as a result of his injuries on his second day there.
Police then tracked down Bhola and arrested him after his other brother, Kalu, lodged a police report against him.
