"Why would you spend 15k on dust bin?"
Gauri Khan is one of the biggest designers in India.
Over the years, she has designed homes for many A-list Bollywood celebrities and has designed a Mexican restaurant in Bandra, a hotel in Goa, a luxury bar in Delhi, and more.
The designer’s products are expensive and she is often trolled for selling such costly products online.
Now, internet users have targeted her for selling a dustbin worth Rs. 15,340 and a shell table lamp which costs Rs. 1,59,300 among other products.
The users shared pictures of three products listed on Gauri Khan Designs – a dustbin, a shell table lamp, and a wood penguin sculpture.
The products have received a lot of criticism from netizens.
They trolled the company for selling a dustbin at a whopping price tag of Rs. 15,340.
Also, its design, according to them, looks quite ordinary.
A user took a dig at the designers working at Gauri Khan Designs and stated how products in Army canteens are much better than theirs.
The comment read: “15,000 ka dustbin? Can procure a far better design than this at the Army canteen at 1/30th of the price lol.”
Another user said: “I accidentally bought a dustbin worth 500 rupees last week from D Mart.
“Couldn’t get it out of my head for 2 days.”
One more wrote: “No matter how rich you are, why would you spend 15k on dust bin?
“Maybe it’s just my middle-class brain that can’t accept this.”
Since then, the products have been removed from the Tata CLiQ Luxury website where they were initially available.
Further, users mocked the company for selling such an expensive lamp.
A user said: “My mom looked at the shell lamp and said, ‘itne paisey mein toh hum Andaman jake shells laa ke khud hi chipka lein lamp mein’ (For this price, we can go to Andaman and bring shells from there and stick it on the lamp ourselves).”
Regarding the gold-leafing wood penguin sculpture, priced at Rs. 12,390, many commented saying it does not look like a penguin.
A user made fun of the product by comparing it with Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor’s famous character, Majnu Bhai’s painting in the film Welcome.
The user wrote: “WTF is this lmao. Majnu bhai ki painting isse better hain in the name of art (Majnu brother’s painting is much better than this).”
This is not the first time Gauri Khan has been trolled on the internet.
She often makes headlines for being mocked for her dressing sense.
