Bollywood actress Swara Bhasker has had an FIR filed against her over her comments about a viral video.
A video of a 72-year-old man named Abdul Samad Saifi being assaulted has been circulating on Twitter.
The video also shows Saifi having his beard cut off in Ghaziabad’s Loni.
However, since the video went viral, different versions of the case have surfaced.
According to a report from The Wire, Abdul Samad Saifi revealed he was abducted and forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’.
However, Uttar Pradesh Police say he was not forced to chant anything.
Since the video’s release, many Twitter users such as Swara Bhasker have discussed their opinions on the case.
The Uttar Pradesh Police have since filed an FIR against Bhasker and at least eight other people for their tweets.
The complaint was filed by advocate Amit Acharya.
In the complaint, Acharya said:
“These users have lakhs of followers and an official account.
“Knowing the fact that their tweets have an impact on society, they gave communal colours to the incident without fact-checking the truthfulness of the incident.
“The concerned tweets were floated across the social media with the motive of hampering peace and harmony amongst the religious groups.”
Netizens were also not happy with Swara Bhasker’s tweets about the viral video.

One of Swara Bhasker’s tweets, from Tuesday, June 15, 2021, said:
“Agree. I can believe a bunch of Muslims beat up an old Muslim man, but forced him to chant #JaiShriRam & cut off his beard?!
“That really the whole story? Anyway… love how Sanghis are conveniently ignoring the prime accused that Pravesh who beat the old man & forced him to chant!”
Swara Bhasker’s tweet did not go down well, and she was quickly called out for inciting communal hatred.
However, this did not stop Bhasker from continuing to express her views.

In another tweet, she said:

“Yet it is a desecration of my God and my religion and I’m ashamed… as you should be.”
Twitter users slammed Swara Bhasker for her comments and urged Ghaziabad Police to file an FIR against the actress.
Swara, the main accused is “Parvez Gujjar” not “Pravesh”.

Swara kindly produce the video where those Muslim goons asked Abdul to Chant #JaiShriRam .

One user called her out to say:

Even Bollywood filmmaker Ashoke Pandit took to Twitter to request an FIR against Swara Bhasker.
He said:
“An FIR should be filed against this urban naxal #SwaraBhasker also who is a compulsive liar and an expert in inciting communal violence.”
An FIR has now been registered against Swara Bhasker. Police complaints have also been filed against Twitter India Head Manish Maheshwari and others.
According to the Indian Express:
“The complainant has asked the Delhi police to file an FIR against Twitter Inc, Bhasker, Maheshwari, (Arfa Khanum) Sherwani and a man named Arif Khan and book them under IPC sections 153 (provocation for rioting), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295A (acts intended to outrage religious feelings), 505 (mischief) and 120B (criminal conspiracy).”
