"Make sure you tell them how much you love them"
Charithra Chandran will mark Mother’s Day with a special episode of CBeebies Bedtime Story on March 30, 2025.
The actress will read You’re Strong with Me by Chitra Soundar, a touching tale about a mother giraffe guiding her young calf through the vast African savannah.
The story reassures children that parental support is always there when needed.
Charithra’s bedtime reading ends with a heartfelt message:
“Is there someone in your family who makes you feel strong? Maybe it’s your Mum, or Amma.
“Make sure you tell them how much you love them this Mother’s Day.
“One day you’ll grow taller, wiser, and stronger, but the most important thing right now is a good night’s sleep.”
Kate Morton, Senior Head of Commissioning for CBeebies, said:
“As mums are celebrated across the UK, this special story is perfect for little ones to snuggle down and enjoy with their grown-ups.”
Charithra is not the only new reader for CBeebies Bedtime Stories.
Snow White star Rachel Zegler will take viewers on a journey to a magical, fairytale castle when she reads Never Mess with a Pirate Princess by Holly Ryan on March 28.
It tells the story of Princess Prue whose teddy bear is stolen by pirates. They quickly learn not to mess with the feisty heroine.
At the end of the story, Rachel tells young viewers: “We can all be powerful princesses.
“You don’t need a king or a queen as parents, or a beautiful white horse, or even a fancy castle to live in.
“To be a powerful princess you just need to be wonderful, brilliant you!”
Charithra Chandran also stars as Amma in Nikhil & Jay, a CBeebies animation about two brothers growing up in a dual-heritage British Asian family.
The show reflects the experiences of many multicultural households in the UK.
CBeebies Bedtime Stories airs on weekdays at 6:50 pm on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
A special Mother’s Day episode of Nikhil & Jay will be broadcast at 10:15 am on March 30 on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer.
For Charithra Chandran, her stardom continues to rise.
She is known for playing Edwina Sharma in Netflix’s Bridgerton but she has gone on to play a recurring role in Dune: Prophecy and starred in the rom-com How to Date Billy Walsh.
Charithra was also cast as Miss Wednesday for season two of One Piece, a live-action series based on Eiichiro Oda’s best-selling manga.
