"It was my first heartbreak in Mumbai."
Barkha Bisht has opened up about her past relationship with Karan Singh Grover. In a new interview with Siddharth Kannan, she reflected on their romance and eventual split.
Barkha and Karan worked together in the 2004 teen drama Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi. They dated for nearly two years before going their separate ways.
She said: “We dated for two years.
“Karan was a very kind person, which attracted me to him. He has an inherent kindness, which I got attracted to because people in Mumbai are not always kind.
“So, whenever I find kindness, I get attracted to it.
“He is very good-looking, the six-pack abs, I mean, I was just 23 years old!
“Over the years, we grew into different people. It was my first heartbreak in Mumbai.”
Barkha revealed that their breakup was due to evolving differences.
She shared: “Nothing went wrong; our perspectives and views on life were different.
“He was also two years younger than me. As we grew older over those two years, that difference became more apparent, that was the problem.
“I am still very fond of him even today, and I wish him the best wherever he is.”
Karan is now married to actor Bipasha Basu. The couple welcomed their daughter, Devi, in 2022.
Barkha Bisht was previously married to Indraneil Sengupta. The couple separated in 2022 after 14 years of marriage.
She has since discussed her past marriage and claimed Indraneil cheated on her with Bengali actress Ishaa Saha.
Barkha explained: “It’s a choice to move out of a marriage and it was Indraneil’s choice to move out of the marriage.
“He chose to move out of the marriage for reasons best known to him. If it were in my hands, I would still be married. We had a good marriage.
“For four years, I have constantly felt that I wish I could was lesser in everything, maybe things could have been okay.
“Infidelity, cheating, falling out of love all these things happen. It is a choice. Cheating and infidelity is a choice that you make.”
“The second choice is what you do after that.”
Barkha said she tried to save her marriage despite knowing about the affair:
“I was among those women who would say that I would walk out of a marriage if I was cheated on but when it actually happens to you, you realise it is easier said than done.
“I have no shame in saying that I would have forgiven Indraneil and I even tried to save my marriage for two years after that.”
