"Murder is murder."

Alia Bhatt shared a small yet intriguing teaser of Poacher – an Amazon Original Series which she has executive produced.

Based on true events, this show explores India’s largest poaching ring and blends entertainment and education as it underlines the importance of conservation and emboldens the dangers associated with poaching.

Poaching is a crime in India, with several species protected by law. These include the Bengal tiger, the Indian elephant and the blackbuck deer.

In the Poacher teaser, Alia walks with colleagues through a deserted forest. As she stares intently at a weapon on the ground, a voiceover narrates:

“Ashok’s murder was reported at 9 this morning. The third one this month.

“His body was lifeless, mutilated.

“Ashok was only 10 years old. He never even saw his killers.

“They might think they will get away with it.

“But they won’t.

“Just because Ashok was not one of us, that doesn’t make this crime any less significant.

“Because murder is murder.”

Captioning the teaser, Alia Bhatt wrote:

“I spent less than a day in the jungle to shoot this awareness video, but it still gave me chills.

“Murder is Murder… and I can’t wait for you to see the full story through the eyes of #RichieMehta and our stellar cast.”

Fans were quick to express their excitement about the show.

One fan commented: “Cannot wait to see the series. So proud to see Alia being all the best.”

Another wrote: “Alia Bhatt never disappoints.”

A third expressed: “Someone had to raise this voice!!! Alia Bhatt, you star girl. You always bring out the side we least talk about and that’s what makes it so special!!! Can’t wait for this one.”

Poacher features actors including Nimisha Sajayan, Roshan Mathew and Dibyendu Bhattacharya.

It is created, written and directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Richie Mehta.

Alia will produce the series via her company Eternal Sunshine Productions.

“The impact of Poacher was deeply personal, and Richie’s portrayal of the urgent issue of wildlife crime resonated strongly with me and the team.

“The storytelling genuinely moved me, especially knowing it’s based on true events, that sheds light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests.

“I am confident that Poacher will serve as an eye-opener, delivering a powerful message to be more compassionate and considerate towards all living beings.

“It’s a call to embrace coexistence and I am genuinely thrilled to be collaborating with Richie, QC and Prime Video and to contribute to this narrative.”

The show is executive produced by QC Entertainment in association with Suitable Pictures, Poor Man’s Productions and Eternal Sunshine Productions.

With such talent involved and such an exciting premise, Poacher promises to be an entertaining and unforgettable viewing experience.
