DESIblitz Advisory Board

To support the growth and business of the publication, DESIblitz.com has appointed a board of distinguished members from the business community.

The aim of the board is to nurture the development of the publication to help it deliver and meet its objectives not just in terms of content and quality but more importantly to find ways to help it drive its growth as a viable business.

Each of the board members come from a different background and are gratefully providing their time and skills to provide their unique input.

Using their experience and wealth of business knowledge, the board members will support DESIblitz to venture into new exciting activities while safeguarding the achievements to date.

The members of the DESIblitz advisory board are as follows.

Dr Jason Wouhra OBE
Director & Co. Secretary – East End Foods Plc

DESIblitz Board - Jason Wouhra

Jason is currently Director and Company Secretary of East End Foods, which both manufactures and distributes food products globally.

Jason is currently Director and Head of Operations in the company’s wholesale division. He is also responsible for Group HR, Legal and Company Secretariat functions.

In recent years, Jason has developed Governance and Board standards within EEF, this has been done with his learning’s from the IoD Chartered Director program. He has also been instrumental in developing and adapting the culture and leading change within the family organisation.

Jason has acted as Business Advisor to David Cameron and has been recently appointed as UK Ambassador for the Government of Punjab, India.

Jason was awarded the OBE for services to Business and International Trade and was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by Aston University in 2014, for his contribution to business and charitable work in the West Midlands and nationally.

He is a former chair of the IoD in the West Midlands and is currently a Non-Executive Director at University Hospitals Birmingham.

Professor Julian Beer
Deputy Vice-Chancellor – Birmingham City University

Professor Julian Beer has an extensive track record in designing, developing and leading flagship programmes, projects and partnerships to unlock capital and revenue and connect innovation and talent, and engage Higher Education as a catalyst for change and growth positioning universities as “anchor” institutions internationally, nationally and in
regional economies.

He has founded and led several national and international initiatives such as being one of the founders of the world’s first Centre for Brexit Studies and leads the flagship STEAMHouse (circa £75 million) initiative which places the creative industries alongside Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in a trans-disciplinary approach.

He is a non–executive director and chairman of several private sector companies and public sector boards and committees and acts as an advisor to the West Midlands Combined Authority.

He treasures the opportunity to contribute to helping the growth of DESIblitz business using his diverse skills and experience as an impeccable industry leader and much-valued academic professor.

Terri Bruce
Not for Profit VAT specialist at BDO UK LLP

DESIblitz Board - Terri Bruce

Terri is a Chartered Tax Adviser with almost 30 years’ experience in advising businesses on indirect tax matters.

She started her career as a VAT inspector with what was then Customs & Excise before moving into the accountancy profession where she has worked for both Big Four and mid-tier firms.

Terri has specific experience of advising not for profit businesses and business owners and prides herself on providing pragmatic and commercial advice.
