The latest celebrity to come out with their own custom fashion line is none other than former One Direction star, Zayn Malik.
The ‘Pillowtalk’ singer’s 23-piece clothing line is inspired by his family’s Pakistani heritage.
The collection showcases fashionable items that carry beautiful calligraphy in reference to his Pakistani roots.
Zayn says: “My family is from Pakistan, so having artwork in Urdu has huge significance to me.
“Everything was created with the idea that this is something I would want to wear.
“I wanted to approach this as an opportunity to extend my ideas as an artist, and to give fans another facet of who I am.”
His Desi roots aside, other designs are encouraged by his latest music release. One of the shirts has his number 1 debut album title ‘Mind of Mine’ printed on the sleeves.
The star’s new line of merchandise also features vintage-inspired rock band designs.
For his graphic print T-shirts, the 23-year-old has partnered with Mark Wilkinson, the illustrator of Iron Maiden fame.
They take inspiration from the rock bands of the ‘70s and ‘80s on the unique designs.
The singer explains: “Working with Mark gave me a license to do something exciting conceptually with a lot of colour and detail.”
Zayn adds that his favourite shirt in the collection has an image of him emerging out of a city engulfed in flames:
“The art we created gives a nod to the vintage rock-band t-shirts, but with my own concept.”
Although the performer collaborates on some garments, he is adamant that the diverse collection is a reflection of his own style.
Zayn Malik, who is currently dating model Gigi Hadid, stresses that everything is created with his own wardrobe in mind:
“I wanted to approach this as an opportunity to extend my ideas as an artist, and to give fans another facet of who I am.”
Zayn’s designer range is available from his ‘Zayn Malik Store’ website and features a collection of T-shirts, hoodies and sweatshirts.
