Musical genius, Debashish Bhattacharya is a veteran of Indian Classical sound. Having performed for the last 30 years, he is an expert at playing the lap slide guitar.

Originally from Kolkata, India, Bhattacharya-ji is known for modernising classical melody and rhythms. Coming from a heavily musical family, he began learning music at the age of three when he started experimenting on a Hawaiian steel guitar.
He has won countless accolades throughout his incredible career, and was even nominated for a Grammy award for his album Calcutta Chronicles (2009).
Now on tour in the UK, Bhattacharya-ji is performing from his new album Beyond the Ragasphere, which sees a bold fusion of modern and classical Indian sound.
Speaking about the album, Bhattacharya-ji: “It’s a journey of my musical life traditional to contemporary. Raga to Beyond the RagaSphere.”
The new album sees a great line-up of international musicians, and even Bhattacharya-ji’s own teenage daughter Anandi Bhattacharya will be debuting on vocals. Also part of Bhattacharya-ji’s troupe are Nishad Pandey on guitar, Subhasis Bhattacharjee on tabla, Antoine Morineau on percussion and Colin Bass on bass.
This show promises to be a superb evening of classical and fusion music, taking Indian sounds to a modern platform.
