Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have increased security outside their Mumbai home after an alleged extortion threat.

The couple has deployed armed personnel outside their home.

It follows reports that Ranveer received a threatening WhatsApp voice note demanding money.

According to a letter, the six armed officers were stationed at the residence without the “permission” of the Society Managing Committee.

It also mentioned that another uniformed police personnel has been deployed alongside the private security staff.

The Society Managing Committee expressed “serious concern” about the safety and comfort of other residents.

The letter noted that armed personnel were moving with weapons in common areas, including the lobby, gymnasium and children’s area.

Ranveer reportedly informed the Mumbai Police after receiving the alleged extortion threat. Security outside his residence was immediately heightened following the complaint.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the person responsible for sending the voice note.

This is not the first recent security scare involving a Bollywood celebrity. The development comes days after gunshots were fired outside Rohit Shetty’s Mumbai residence.

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for the firing outside the filmmaker’s home in the early hours of February 8. Pune Police detained five people in connection with the case.

Following a preliminary probe, police confirmed that the detained individuals were allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Officers said the assailants opened fire on the first floor of the nine-storey building in Mumbai’s Juhu area at around 12:45 am.

At least five rounds were fired during the incident. One bullet struck the glass facade of a gym located within the building.

The incidents have renewed concerns about celebrity security in Mumbai. Police presence around high-profile residences has reportedly increased in response to recent threats.

On the professional front, Ranveer Singh was recently seen in Dhurandhar, which became India’s highest-grossing film of 2025.

The thriller is set in Pakistan, where Ranveer plays an Indian spy infiltrating terror networks in Lyari.

The film also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan. It is currently available to stream on Netflix.

A sequel will release in theatres on March 19, 2026.

Deepika Padukone was last seen in Singham Returns. She will next appear in King, co-starring Shah Rukh Khan.
