“Just left Ghislaine’s townhouse…after party for film."
Mira Nair, filmmaker and the mother of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, has been named in the latest documents tied to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The files, released by the United States Department of Justice on January 30, include an email referencing Mira Nair at a film afterparty held at Ghislaine Maxwell’s home.
The email dates back to October 21, 2009.
It was sent by celebrity publicist Peggy Siegal to Epstein, who later died in prison while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.
The message describes an afterparty for Nair’s 2009 film Amelia, which took place at Maxwell’s Manhattan townhouse.
The email read: “Just left Ghislaine’s townhouse…after party for film.”
The message went on to list several high-profile attendees:
“Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos were there…Jean Pigozzi, director Mira Nair…etc.
“Film received tepid reaction though women like it much more…Hillary Swank and [Richard] Gere are at stupid party in Bloomingdales cheap sportswear department…very weird.
“Studio went for free party from store and windows for a month… Going to be in Wall Street 2 tomorrow ….more to come. xoxo Peg.”
The email was included in the latest tranche of documents made public as part of the Epstein disclosure.
Nair directed Amelia, a biographical drama about aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart. The film starred Hilary Swank in the lead role and Richard Gere as her husband, publisher George Putnam.
Maxwell was later convicted of sex trafficking offences related to Epstein.
There is no suggestion in the documents that Nair was involved in, or had knowledge of, Epstein’s crimes.

The release forms part of a broader disclosure by the Department of Justice, which has made public millions of pages connected to Epstein and his associates.
United States Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said that the department was releasing more than three million pages of documents.
The disclosure also includes more than 2,000 videos and approximately 180,000 images.
Mira Nair is a critically acclaimed filmmaker known for directing films including Monsoon Wedding, Salaam Bombay! and Mississippi Masala.
Her work has received international recognition and major awards across film festivals.
There has been no public response from Mayor Mamdani’s office following the release of the documents.
The Department of Justice has said the latest release is part of an ongoing effort to provide transparency around Epstein’s network and activities.
